“A very good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2009

We flew with Egyptair. Safe and good service.
The hotel is located between the old and the new town of Hurghada so both parts are quickly reachable by taxi (10-25min). We landed at 1:30 am and we had no problem to find a taxi. We were 6 and we paid 20$-15€ after (not much) bargaining. A fair price during the night would have been 110EP (egyptian pounds).
Tip: You can almost pay everywhere in €, $ or EP. If U can, pay and bargain in EP, it's always cheaper !!
Btw the planes are no at all a problem regarding the noise. The airport is 10 min away and the planes don't fly over the hotel.

In the hotel lobby, there is a bank (small desk) open everyday but friday and also an ATM which give you EP with your credit card, maestro or even money you can insert in the machine. Very handy but beware of the final amount charged by Visa. For a cash withdrawalIf of 300EP (38-39€), you will pay a fee of 5,34€. So don't take too small amount of money. Furthermore, Egypt (at least Hurhgada) really is a safe place. The only people you could be afraid of are... the other tourists.
The rooms are very cozy with comfortable beds. The airco is a little bit noisy and temperature can't be set. There are sometimes power and water outages but.. hey you are in Egypt!
Believe me those problems are minors in comparison to the overall quality of the hotel. Good service, clean everywhere, garden and facilities well maintained, good food (always something you like in the buffet), outstanding location with 2 private lagoons and the largest swimming pool of Hurhgada. A very nice penisula leading to the open sea with a lot of chairs and restaurant at the end (look at the hotel on google maps to see what i mean: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=27.242144,+33.846034&t=h&vps=3&jsv=173b&sll=27.243088,33.845605&sspn=0.008737,0.020556&ie=UTF8&hl=fr&geocode=FaCunwEdEnMEAg&split=0).
The guest are mostly germans, Dutchs, Russians and Frenchs. There is a good mix of teenagers, young adults or olders, friends, couples or families.
The All Inclusive formula is really inclusive and you could spend the whole day eating or drinking.
You'll find spa center (you can bargain a lot there), tennis (free), 9 snooker table ! (free), fitness room (free), 3 or 4 ping-pong tables (free), pedal boats renting (9€ for 1 hr or 60EP which is cheaper), atm, shopping arcade (ali bazar is just outside and arcade is on the street), ...

There is also a very professional and outstanding diving center (shared between hotels Arabia and Arabella). See http://www.blue-water-dive.com . German management and most of divers germans but the staff speaks english too and I know one of the instructor (Diana) is speaking french, italian, rumanian.. too
Whatever you are an experienced diver or a complete rookie youy will enjoy your time with them.
Good to know: there is an hospital just beside the hotel able to treat some diving problems and there are hyperbaric chambers in the Naval hospital (500m away) or in the Hypermed center (10 min away).

2 points in the egyptian mentality could be badly perceived if you don't get used to it and believe they only do it to tourists which is wrong.
1) you have to bargain for a lot of things. Yep that's right it can be boring sometimes. You don't have to but prepare to pay the high price then. Sometimes it can be really fun with both parts having a good laugh. In some parts of the new town, shop keepers will refrain to harass you on the sidewalk (which is really boring but a steady "Laa choukrane" is enough to make them stop) and some shops have fixed prices (ask the taxi company in the lobby about that) but these are not the more interesting shops unfortunately.
2) "not here, see my mate" is occasionnally answered when you ask for a service. Don't get angry, even if obviously the guy has nothing else to do and just go to his colleague. Keep smiling you 'r on holidays :) Anyway the very vast majority of ppl is really willing to help everywhere (and not necessarily for money...).

The temperature is as you can guess quiet high in august (29-31°C at night, 36-40°C during the day) but actually you won't suffer too much of it as the wind brings you some coolness. On that point of view, going to Louxor or Cairo is something completely different of course... You better go to Louxor in october or november.
We didn't see a single cloud during the 14 days we spent in Hurghada :-)

The bottom line: We spent really great holidays with our 4 children (from 10 to 16 y.o.) at this wonderful hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone

Wonderful big room facing the lagoon-the best really! Staff wonderful and sweet. Beaches are nice and if you take a lagoon room you have app. 10 meters to the water! Food very boring, "international cuisine". La marina has a small pizza counter-the pizzas are nice!Would I go back? Yes if they make the food better! Sophie

We love Arabia Beach!
Arabia has fantastic situation with two lagoonas and lovely sandy beach.Huge swimming pool, little for the litle ones in mini club.Food is very good.Around is a few nice restaurants. Our favourite is Barbeque at swimming pool with delicious arabic food and for lunches Marina Restaurat by the reef.Did not like just Italian Pizzeria.People in Arabia are very pleasant and helpful.Service is excellent! Arabia is situated directly by the beautiful reef.Rooms are clean however in part B a liitle bit too much used and need some work.On the other side views are better from lagoon B than A...!
Beside Arabia, in the same complex of buildings (together with Bel Air and Iberotel Arabella) is lovely "souk" Ali Baba Market.
Plenty of bars.We met there a lot of people who return there again and again. We want to be back ASAP!

“Happy Margret and Daniel "Ali Baba"”

My name is Margret and i visited hotel arabia beach second time with my son Daniel, first time three years ago. It was such nice week we spent, this time with new years eve-party, and we had so much fun with the people there. Exspecially the animation team gives us many reasons to come back, because it happens, that we took part of the comedy-shows in the teatre nearly every evening, and continue making party after it in the hotel disco "taboo".Thanks a lot to the whole team for it!!!!!!!!!!
Also EVERYBODY in the hotel was so kind and frindly, so that we are still so sad to go back to germany.
We arrived last night and saw the video from new years eve party, i could not stop laughing!
The food was also excellent, big hug to all the people,
WE WILL COME BACK
Margret and Daniel ( called Alibaba because always wearing a nubian hat )

“Good place for divers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2004

Hi there, since I really enjoyed this site for planing my NYC trip this march ( I already posted for Metro-Home NYC ) I want to post some information for other users that might be helpful.

I usually travel once a year for one week to Hurghada for scuba diving with some of my club-mates from my scuba club.

For the last 6 or 7 years we stayed always at the Arabia beach b/c we were very satisfied with this hotel.

1) Hotel
it is a relatively big hotel with more than 500 rooms but for real it is even bigger b/c a part of the hotel was just named for a different hotel, the Bel Air.
It is a 4 * hotel based on egyptian standard wich you have to consider when you compare it to western standards. The rooms a comfortable sized with two Double beds, air condition, refridgerator, sat.-TV, and a large (for a hotel ) bathroom with a tub . Some rooms have an in room safe and for the ohters there is a safe provided at the reception free of charge.
The rooms are cleaned daily and the roommates will honor if you leave then 1-2 LE Bakshish (less than 50 cent)
Breakfast and lunch comes in several restaurants as a Buffet wich is OK but not spectacluar.
You have the possibility to dine at "Villa Kunterbunt" with your room card free of charge for certain menues or recieve a 20 LE discount on your bill when dining a'la carte. (beverages not included)

I cannot say anything about day-activities than scuba diving b/c wee leave every day early for diving and come back late afternoon.

But I definitfely can recomend the Hotel for ppl. who like just to lay in the sun. Try to request a room on ground level to the lagoon side. There are lagoons built from the sea into the complex so if you have a ground level room on the lagoone side you step just out of your balcony door and you are right at the waterfront.

2) Scuba diving

A really great place to stay for scuba divers b/c it has an integrated diving base, the "Blue Water Dive Resort" which has been elected by the readers of a German diving magazine for best scuba diving base at the red sea.
It is not allowed to post a URL but when you type "blue-water-dive" in google it is the first hit.
The red sea has really great diving spot and especially Hurghada has a great value compared to other diving spots in the world.
Special for this hotel is that it is one of very few hotels in HUrghada that has its oen coral reef right in front of the door. This is great for snorkling or one or two dives. For frequently diving I defintively recommend the boat trips.

If you are interested in scuba diving ask for a room in block A, wich is closest to the base but for all others the blue-water provides a Pickup-shuttle service from the main entrance of the hotel.
(But from anywhere in the Hotel it is not more than a few hundred meters [or yards ;-)])

Me and my diving-mates return to this spot this year in September so if there are any changes I will post them.
