“Daytime Disco drove me crazy”

I reviewed the Safir in January 2011 and this was my fourth visit here. Having enjoyed the quiet location and the wonderful attentive staff on my previous visits, I booked another four week stay this January, BUT the hotel has engaged a DJ who blasted out the most appalling music (euro trash Smurf tunes thru to angry Gangsta rap) from 10-00am to 12-00am and then again from 3-00pm till 4-00pm just in time to shatter the peace when sitting on the balcony reading or relaxing, there was no escape from the music by the pool, on the beach or worse still even in the rooms with the widows closed!
I changed rooms but there was no escape and I cut short my holiday checking out a week early. If you are looking for a quiet time DO NOT stay here!!!
The staff are fantastic and it is a shame that the management do not understand that most of the guests here are mature and do not want to be subjected to thumping bass in the daytime. When challeged the DJ did play different stuff, but that turned out to be awful versions of old favourite tunes played on Pan Pipes or heavily mangled piano pieces, I still have the "improved" theme to the Deerhunter running around inside my head.
I definitely will not be returning to the Safir until the management see sense and peace and quiet is restored.

Room Tip: All the rooms overlook the DJ and the speakers from Hell

“What security”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Rooms tired, food good but same most evenings, security in rooms not good - as items were taken, also from the security boxes. Some of the staff friendly but others just stared at you. Watch out for the waiters giving you short change

“Very nice hotel and friendly staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Very nice hotel with fantastic, friendly staff. Everybody in the hotel were very polite, kind and helpful. The rooms nice and clean with a fantastic view over the poolarea and the Red Sea. The pool was a little bit cold though. The food was very good but not so vary. Local Beer, wine good. The hotel's location was excellent - just 10 min from airport and you can walk to Hurghada town. I really recommend this hotel for couples and singles, because of its calm atmosphere and there is not much noice. Easy and cheap to take a cab anywhere (about 5 LE). I can also definitely recommend to make a Safari-trip in desert with 4-wheel motorbikes, visit the Beduins and ride Camel. They pic you up at the hotel. Me and my wife had a lovely week there - didn't want to go home.

“The best Customer Service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

Just got back from Hurghada. Had enough of the grey sky in England and booked a last minute holiday. Since upon arrival the staff did their best. It was not an English hotel, so if you want to learn Russian, German, Italian or Chinese, this is your place! :)
The private beach was amazing and clean. Not only the staff but the guests knew their manner which was not always the case with other hotels as I learned during my excursions.
Diving, snorkling, submarine, panorama boat... everything was arranged easily at the Reception. The staff was keen to do their best and provide an excellent customer service.
The hotel itself is a 3* but was as clean and tidy as it could be! Food was very tasty, but the variety or its lack of was a bit let down.
The staff spoke several languages and have been with the hotel for number of years, which was assuring.
When one of my excursions booked by the travel agent went wrong, they did everything to make it up for me and arrange the dolphin swim with another Partner. They were just amazing.
They found me a hotel which had kayaks as I wanted to do sea-kayaking on the Red Sea. Warned me and the other guests about what to encounter with in the town.
Staff. Amazing, helpful and very eager
Food. Simple, very tasty and freshly made - lack of variety though
Internet. Well, it`s speed was a bit slower compared to my standard.
Room. Spacious, clean and comfortable.
Location. Close to the town centre (walking distance at daytime, EGL 15 in the evening)
Beach. The most beautiful blue I have ever seen. Clean and tidy, well looked after.

I would recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the sunshine! With bearing in mind that now the weather turns a bit windy, hence next year I will be back probably in early October! :)

Room Tip: I had a seaside balcony / terrace room in a separate building which is good for a family, but I woul...

“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

Stayed here some time ago for 2 weeks, the hotel has a small but nice beach, its located a 10 minute walk away from the Memsha area of Hurghada where you can find a variety of Shops,Bars,Restaurants and Hotels. The rooms were clean and a good size. Our room overlooked the hotel Beach and Gardens. We stayed bed and breakfast and there was a good variety of hot and cold foods available at the buffet. The Safir also has an annex across the road from the main building which I believe is newer then the hotel. Also located a 5 minute car ride away from the hustle and bustle of Sekalla. You can walk in any direction from the front of the Safir and you will come to various cafes, bars and beaches.
Even though its not the most centrally located hotel it is certainly worth considering on your next stay in Hurghada,We found the staff very helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Beach or Gardens.
