“I want to do it all over again”

My partner and I went here for my Birthday September last year. What a fabulous time we had...
We have both travelled exstensively and though this may not be up there with the Burj al Arabs of this world, it certainlty has that something special that makes you want to go back.
We had a suite with a private pool though spent most of our time on the beach.
The staff here are some of the best in the service industry and nothing is too much trouble.
We had such a great time we have already booke to go back in May of this year.
Highly recommended

Room Tip: all lovely

“FIRST RATE HOTEL WITH OUTSTANDING FOOD”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I had stayed at two other Oberoi hotels in India (it is an Indian company) so I had high expectations. With a few minor reservations I was not disappointed.

This is a really first-class hotel, which must surely be one of the very best in Egypt (and I have stayed in several others). It is an "all-suite" hotel, meaning that our room had a spacious sitting area, a dressing room and its own courtyard with sun-loungers.

The beach is huge and well-maintained. The pool (or rather a series of inter-connecting pools) was also very good, although a temperature of 21C does not really meet most people's definition of a "heated pool" (this was January).

The Oberoi is expensive; a room-rate of over £300 (GBP) room-only is a lot more than you would normally pay for a five-star hotel in Egypt.

But there is one major plus: the quality of the food. Every single meal we had was outstanding, either in the main restaurant (with a choice of two or three menus every evening), at the Indian restaurant ("Zaafran") and at the poolside cafe ("The Pergola"). The quality and variety was probably the best I've found in any hotel.

The only drawback with the Oberoi is its location. It really is in the middle of nowhere so you need a taxi if you want to get into Hurghada or anywhere else. So I wonder why the hotel has a shop that sells ornamental wooden camels and designer clothes -- one selling toothpaste would be rather more useful. And a bank that is open a few hours a day is also of limited use; I suggest they replace it with a cash-machine (as I have found available in other Egyptian hotels).

But I ended the week totally relaxed and with a smile on my face; the diet started on my return to England.

Room Tip: Rooms near the beach are prefereable, although most rooms (or rather "suites") have identi...

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review of our resort. I have shared your comments with the team and we are pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for your patronage of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts.
We do maintain a temperature of 28*C in our main pool during the cooler months which is checked thrice daily including once by me personally. I am surprised that you did find the pool cold. We have a thermometer that is kept dipped in the pool so our guests can also view the temperature at all times.
We find our resort to be absolute value for money. In fact, our competitors in our category charge at least twice the room rate that you would pay for a stay at our resort and do not offer all the complimentary value adds that we offer.
In terms of location, we feel that this is our strongest point of difference. We are far away from the all inclusibve hotel set up that fills Hurghada. Most of guests do not venture out into Hurghada for any shopping as they are aware that the town does not have much to offer. Further, daily essentials like toothpaste are available with the boutique or our housekeeping team.
Lastly, currency exchange can be done either at the bank or via front desk at the resort with the same exchange rates. We feel the idea of a cash machine carries with it a different security risk and prefer to operate as we do now.
I am pleased to know that you liked our food and beverage offerings and we look forward to welcoming you, your family and friends back to our resort.
Best regards,

It would be tempting to write pages and pages about this hotel, but it can be summed up in one word. Perfect.

The hotel, pool, food, suites, grounds are perfect in every way. The staff are all very polite, friendly and helpful and are a credit to the hotel.

Thank you so much for a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: Ask the hotel what room you require and they will do everything possible to assist.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your short but poignant review. I have shared your comments with the team and we are all thrilled. to have exceeded your expectations. We look forward to many more visits.

We have an exciting year ahead where we plan to upgrade the technology at the resort by undertaking a project of wireless internet and equipping all our suites with iPod docking players. We hope to complete both projects around the middle of the year.

“How can you improve on perfection?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Having read all the reviews on "trip"beforehand, we had no hesitation in booking this hotel for two weeks in January. We were not disappointed in any way. From the moment we arrived and were met by the general manager, Mr Pereira, we were transported to a world beyond anything we had ever experienced before, and we have travelled all over the world. The hotel, staff, food and cleanliness was first class, and EVERYTHING was never too much trouble. Many people have written reviews on the Oberoi Hotel group, and as a couple who have stayed in 4 of them, and on the Philae Nile boat they also own,we can say without hesitation that we totally concur with their comments.
ALL the staff were extraordinary, and the quality of the food was fantastic. Even after 2 weeks we were never offered the same menu. Also, if you were inclined, there were Cookery demonstrations, Pilates, Yoga, Star gazing, Towel folding, and Neck massaging!
We did venture into Hurghada twice, but found everything we needed was at the Hotel.
The weather was warm in the day, but we needed sweaters in the evening, as there was a stong cold wind. ( unusual for this area )
Perfection always come at a price, but this is truly a gem, and by todays prices, above par with other 5 star hotels. Will we return ?--------------You betcha!
