“My Holiday of the year 2011”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I realise that I have already done a review for the Sensimar Makadi but when we were invited to give our best experiences of the year, this hotel has to be the one for us! Unfofrtuately Thomson UK has apparently not renewed their contract with this hotel for some unknown reason, which has completely devastated us, we were determined to return there this year.If it would do any good I would plead with Thomsons to put this hotel back into their brochure. It really was the holiday to beat all we have been on. The people were so friendly, the resort was so safe and secure, the food was OK, BUT THE STAFF WERE ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD! We would go back there tomorrow if we could, and we just hope that the friends we made there amongst the staff realise why we cannot, I dont really know what else to say - we wanna go back and we cannot that must give the place an extra star surelly!!

“Excellent Holiday, shame about the Travel Agent....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

After extensive research to find the right place (we actually made our decision based on the reviews on this site!!) we booked Sensimar Makadi hoping the reviews were right. When you spend the amount on a holiday like we did, you want the best out of it. We were not let down!!! Beautiful location, treat like royalty on arrival, very friendly staff, great room, great pool area, beach only a few yards away, awesome weather in late October... The restaurant staff were brill - led by manager Mohamed and superb waiters with brilliant personalities. The only criticism I have is nothing to do with the staff or hotel, but Thomsons. Thomsons only have 4 rooms at the hotel, the rest are Tui. Out of loads of rooms, only 4 were for UK residents. Infact there was only 1 other British couple there at the time, the rest were German!! Thomsons didn't have any reps there, we had to walk to another hotel to see a rep. We didn't feel valued at all by Thomsons. Because the hotel catered for 99% German, the food could have been better. Usually I'll eat anything but didn't really enjoy the food - preferred the pool cafe food which was more British. The excursions on offer were good even though we had to go to another hotel to observe and book. Loved the holiday overall and would recommend it but would have liked prior notice of all the Germans and lack of Thomson presence. Thank you to Sensimar though!!!

“This hotel provided the X - Factor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

From the moment we arrived at the hotel the friendliness and attentiveness of staff could not have been bettered. The welcome of drinks, cold towels and the restaurant kept open late for us due to late arrival set the scene for more to come.

The hotel was very clean and maintained to the highest standards. The grounds were very pretty and rooms were spacious and well serviced. Meals could be eaten on the patio by the pool side or indoors and food was of a good standard with plenty of choice to suit all tastes.

A lovely resort with the hotel being positioned right next to the beach, warm blue sea and beautiful fish. Water sports available. The cool sea breeze ensured that even during the heat of the day it was bareable to be out.

Low key evening entertainment was enjoyable.

A true 5 star hotel.

“We loved the place this great hotel....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

Well what can we say about this great hotel. we spent 2 weeks just relaxing and chilling out here and loved every minute of it. As stated in earlier reviews, the food can seem as if its catering for mainly the German tourists but we cannot say that we went hungry. If you fancied anything else to eat all you had to do was ask and they would try and cook it for you. Our son who came with us only had to walk into the serving area at breakfast time and a fried egg would be put on to cook by the chef without him asking....lol. I`m not a lover of desserts so mostly stayed with the fruit, when they had run out of peaches I asked them when they would have them back into stock. The next day they had sent out some-one to the other hotels to get peaches off them just for me. Now that is what I call looking after the guests needs.
The pool area can get too slippery when wet and a few people have fallen or nearly slipped so be careful. The only time you need to carry the towels provided is when you decide to go down to the beach or are taking them back at the end of the day. The staff put them out on the whichever loungers you want to lay on and sort out the shades for you, now thats service.
The evening entertainment in Egypt has never been impressive or lasts very long but here it was better than norm. Saxophonist. violinist, singer, dancer, dervishes and fakir. where would you get that type of entertainment over a weeks period . The Red Room is a very large lounge area upstairs off the lobby that in our mind is way under used. When ever we went there there was no more than 8 people in there.
The rooms are large ( we are three adults ) and kept clean. Our only gripe is that the mini-bar was not included in the all inclusive allowance and the fridge was not exactly keeping things in there cold. The room cleaners came in upto 3 times a day to clean your room and set the beds.
The staff... They work damn hard making sure you are looked after. There are too many that we got to know but forgot their names but if you see " Randy" at the pool bar, tell him "Matthew from Wales" wishes to say "thanks for being a friend" .
All the guys there really enjoy looking after us visitors, so lets show our appreciation by giving them a couple of dollars in tips a few times during your stay to show that you are happy with what they do to make your holiday a good one. They don`t earn a lot in wages and many have families that they don`t see for weeks at a time, so times are very hard for them to earn a crust.
Our grateful thanks go out to all of the staff for making this holiday the best time we have ever had holidaying in Egypt.

We would love to go back there again next year but "THOMSONS" are NOT renewi their contract with this great hotel. WHY DROP A GREAT HOTEL ?????????? They only had a contract for 9 rooms and they drop out...
