“just doesn,t live up to it's 5*”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Have just returned home after 2 weeks ,the albatros palace is a massive complex with 3 other albatross properties close by it is an impressive hotel exceptionally clean and pristinally kept ,the check in was a fairly easy affair as there was only ourselves to be checked in.

The room was not as big as we expected and was over shadowed by the massive queensized beds ,but quite comfortable never the less, the terrace is quite small but adequite if you want to sit outside for an hour or so the veiw we had was the gardens and beach albatros hotel and slides ,which you could apparantly use but puzzlingly were not allowed to use the bars or eat in them .

The food and drink could be a bit hit and miss ,mainly because this hotel as all the albatros hotels seem to be mainly geared towards catering for German and russians and the place is over run with them, but in general you could normally put something on your plate ,wine and beer was plentifull ,beer was served by the bottle and white and rose were palatable how ever after the 3 rd bottle becomes more so.

what lets the place down however is most of the staff seem to have there hands out if they are asked for something ,and the pool bar was a prime example ,if you didn,t tip you got a cocktail in paper cup, the tippers got a glass with all the trimmings, but if you went the bar and asked for a beer the barman would give you a bottle if you tipped it was cold if not you got a warm one, this is nothing new for eygpt i know but i generally tip because i want not because i am being blackmailed into doing so ,and this was how it felt at the splash pool bar.

The coffee bar up in the main lounge was the total oppisite to the pool bar the staff were freindly and were always willing to serve you a drink with or without tips, the coffee's were excellent and the main barman here was freindly and without a doubt an asset to the palace his coffees were excellent and i actually felt i wanted to tip the guy ,although the service was excellent here too.
if you were in reception for example they were only too willing to get you a drink be it a coffee or a beer.

Remember this is a highly rated 5* hotel and this type of service should be given all over the hotel not just parts of it,and tips should be given because you want to not because you feel you have to, to get what you have already paid for.

As i,ve already mentioned the rooms were a bit smaller than we expected ,but were kept immaculatey clean ,also if you have any problems see your cleaner he can get things done in half the time, ahmed our cleaner ,(we were in room 1338 ) after calling reception 3 days earlier to report the heater in with the air con was not heating had this sorted out in 20 mins of telling him about it ,these lads also work extremely hard and gratefully deserve any tips you may see fit to leave them.

Although i like to keep my reveiwes mainly to the hotel i feel i should mention hurghada airport here as i feel it may help other's travelling ,on returning home we discovered our luggage had been been tampered with and several items missing notably tobacco and perfume ,also sunglasses missing ,my advice is KEEP ANYTHING OF VALUE IN YOUR HAND LUGGAGE

A really amazing hotel. Clean, friendly and with pretty much everything you need. The food is good (which is not always the case in an all inclusive) and with 6 restaurants it doesn't get too familiar. You can basically pick and choose from different restaurants and sit in a general area or you can sit at a table in a particular restaurant. The hotel has its own coffee shop which is nice and the beach bar is really cool. The service is as good as you want it to be. The waiters are there to be attentive but aren't pushy and don't harrangue you for tips (although the occasional one helps!)

The hotel itself is really pretty and there are sun loungers and actual double beds and double beds with canopies dotted around the pool which is a nice touch for sunbathing. The attention to detail is a real plus in this hotel and the design is luxurious but not tacky.

It does cater for the German market ever so slightly but they love it when they find out you're English. The only slight downside was that our room got quite alot of noise from the corridors outside, particularly on mornings.

This is one of about 8 Albatros hotels in the area and is right next door to the Beach Albatros resort. The Albatros Palace is definitely the best of the lot and your all inclusive bands allow you to use the facilities in some of the other Albatros hotels (including the beach albatros' slides next door!). There were some kids around but we got the feeling that kids would be abit more at home at some of the other hotels with big waterparks (but the parents would be more at home at the Albatros Palace!)

We went in late Jan / Early Feb and the weather was beautiful; cooler at night (take a jumper) but beautiful and hot during the day (so no need to worry about not getting a tan!). We also went on a trip to Luxor, which is about 3 hours away by coach, and cost us £65 each and we'd definitely recommend it.

A special mention has to go to Mahmoud Badry the waiter who was amazing!

Would definitely go again!

Room Tip: It costs an extra €10 per night for a pool view or a sea view. Generally not worth it.

“Surprisingly Good For The Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Booked a week away with friends at short notice (they had already booked this hotel several weeks earlier). Got a week for 2 all inclusive including flights from Manchester and transfers for under £900 with Travel Republic.
Hotel is big, as is the pool. Exceptionally clean with staff cleaning and sweeping all areas on an almost permanent basis.
Rooms were big and cleaned daily. Mini bar just had water but not a problem. Shower was fantastic!
Plenty of choice in the restaurants and food of good quality for an all inclusive. Always found several dishes we liked. Service was very good although this is helped if you sit in the same place for each meal then the waiter gets to know you (and an occasional tip doesn't hurt).
Although you tend to sit in a gien place, you can visit any of the many restaurants and pick bits from each.
Beach bar also had god selection of food at lunch time/afternoons and did very good pizzas.
Cocktails at all bars were nice (and srong - beware!).
One criticism was that wifi was not free. We purchased an hours worth to share between us and friends but it seemed to run out after 3 or 4 5 minute uses (and once used on one laptop/phone, could not then be used on a different one)! Then bought a weeks worth for around £40 which was fine where you could get a signal, but very frustrating as signal was not very reliable. Would be so easy to put that right.
Overall though a very good weeks holiday and would definately recommend it.

“Excellent hotel”

I stayed at this hotel in the beginning of June 2011. Generally, the hotel is well kept and service is very good. Staff are very keen to ensure guest satisfaction and enjoyment. Rooms are large and well-furnished, swimming pool is very large, and outfitted with small aqua park water game for kids.
For the animation team, they are funny and have good sense of humor, but I think they could be better. For food, the hotel has five restaurants; the Moroccan one was the most preferable for me. Generally, I highly recommend this hotel.

“Great hotel for price was pleasantly surprised!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Ok, so not sure where to start, firstly Albatros own about eight hotels in Hurghada all with Albatros in the name, so it can get confusing. We stayed at the Beach Albatros Palace, same thing as what most people here are talking about, but there was a hotel next door which was linked but didn't look as nice with Albatros in the name too and Albatros Garden, so make sure you're going for the Beach one.

Last year my friend and I went to Sharm diving, stayed at the Hilton in Sharks Bay and loved it. To make our next diving trip a bit more interesting we thought we'd try a different part of Egypt. I booked Albatros Palace given the reviews on here and i wasn't disappointed, the hotel was really lovely and I'd say to look at was far more beautiful than the Hilton last year. This wasn't the only improvement, the choice of food at the hotel was staggering, it made us realise that the last hotel we stayed at in Egypt pailed in comparison. There are about six different restaurants and you can get as much as you like from each. In fact you could eat all day apart from at around midnight to five in the morning is what we figured out.

There is a house reef and they've created a little sea pool in the middle which is so cool, although the water was nippy in November. We went for the diving and got picked up from our hotel by the dive center which was in the Alladin hotel two doors down. Having passed through there and then looked at ours it was pretty noticable the difference.

One thing I would mention is the hotel is predominently German, so if you were looking to meet loads of other British people, you are unlikely to. This means that the hotel guests are 80% German generally. The plus side to this is that there are no screaming people in the late hours as they go back to their room and obviously the staff love the fact that a British person is among them, so you get the most amazing service. We'd have key tables waiting for us, coffees straight out when we asked and really helpful tips when shopping. On the otherside and I mean this in a loving way of my fellow Europeans, but sun loungers were booked rather early with towels, which did get a little annoying when no one would turn up for most the day. However this is something the hotel should not allow in my view and isn't really a factor of where someone comes from.

In summary, great hotel, great service especially as i was cheaper than Sharks Bay and in my opinion better. Oh and the diving was amazing, I got to see a sea turtle, so I was happy!
