returned last evening from the hotel iberotel dahabaya, been there for two weeks great hotel, rooms excellent and large, hotel is spotlessly clean, staff are exceptionally polite and professional, particularly Hani, Ahmed and Mena who undertake the bars at poolside, beach side and then the main bar in the evening, they are a credit to the hotel.
Food is very good taking into the differing hot and cold dishes they prepare to cater for all international tastes. Hotel was around 50-60% full, which was ideal. weather been excellent, just one over cast day but still nice and warm, in fact thermometer in the sun at pool side was clocking 95 degree plus yesterday (5th feb). Went for a meal at the thai restaurant (called Mai Thai) about 600 yards along the beach turning left from the hotel beach, it was really good, and we had a great night with couples like ourselves who just fancied a change for the evening. The town/village of Dahab (locals call it Masbat??) is worth a visit, we walked one afternoon, it takes around an hour, again left along the beach, keep going till you come to the fence at the lagoon, and the pathway way takes you straight into Masbat.
The beach is great, plenty of sunbeds, sea nice and warm..... and did a bit of snorkeling with fellow "brit" george, go just past the bouys and the fish are there. One word of warning, the guy who has the "rights" to sell trips at the hotel (to the right on the beach) is a bit of a conman, better trips and more reasonable with the "baby fish" guy who is some 30 meters to the left. If you fancy a massage the lady who politely comes along the beach, is open to negotiation, 60 euro is very steep, but managed to get two 1 hour massages for £50.
Anyway, we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, and are happy to answer any fellow "TA,ers" questions. Only down side was that we were sunbathing on sunday morning, and digging a path to our front door through the snow on our return home some 13 hours later...ahhhhhhhhhhh. Cheers all.
Room Tip: first floor to the left looking from restaurant, brilliant afternoon sun.
