Very disappointed with the room. Bath was not clean, trash on the floor in the bedroom and on the table. Balcony was clean(windswept).
Arrived late, after dinner, and was looking for a good hotel on appearance. As they say, never judge a book by its cover. Same goes for a hotel! Bed was just OK. Internet cost was outrageous and not used. Free everywhere else in Ecuador!!!
Breakfast buffet was good with an excellent variety, good coffee and an excellent and attentive chef making omelets. Location was very good and the service staff at the pool and on the beach were friendly and helpful. The pool was clean, warm and delightful.

Barcelo is a big, all inclusive hotel right on the beach with many facilities. Staff don't speak too much English but were very helpful and friendly.
We had a very relaxing time and loved to swim in the ocean even though the hotel has 2 good pools. The ocean water is very clean and calm and you can swim without the fear of being swept away.
The hotel has a private shuttle every day to Guayaquil Airport (or bus terminal). That was a bonus we didn't know about.
I highly recommend this hotel and will return there myself.

I stayed in Barcelo for 4 days and 3 nights. We went off season it was still a bit chilly during the day. Its a nice hotel and clean and neat.

Gym option is nice
Food was decent and some stuff was very tasty but I was done with it after the 4 day.
Room Svs were good everyday they cleanded and changed the sheets and towels

Cons
-Gym no A/C or at least I didn't feel it. Treadmill worked and the stepper too but the rest of the equipment is out dated. They have sauna and steam room. The steam room smelled musty. But the locker/bathrooms were clean.
-Not much to do there if your there mid week on the off season.
-Sunday they stop serving alchol after 4 p.m. its the law.
-They still smoke in the bar and in the casino.
- I know that many people complained about the service from the staff, it varie there were some great waitstaff and some that were just ignor you. But for the most part that is what its like over there. Its the custom not from them to come over to you unless you call them over.

Would go there again, It seem like the only good spot in the area to stay.


Also I would reach out to a special driver to take you over to Montillinta (sp?) it was a nice beach and great shopps, it's about an 45 min ride

Stayed at the Barcelo on July 5,6, 7th - this hotel is way over priced for what you get. The rooms are clean but need an update. Food was ok, but no way compraed to the Mexican or Dominican all inclusives. Staff was attentive, but not overly friendly. For US $200 a day it's way over priced.
