“Good & Bad--room was subpar . . . .”

We recently stayed at the Tropicana for a Martial Arts affair. The last time I was in Atlantic City, I was 17 and that was many moons ago, so I was looking forward to a whole new experience.
The opulence of the main floor was breathtaking. The marble and glitz was apparent everywhere! However, checking in was a chore, especially since it's a twenty minute hike from the parking garage. There was a line, but it moved smoothly and quickly. Every employee we talked with was cheerful & happy to help.
The opulence ended once we got to our room. Worn furniture, finishes; holes in the ceiling and cigarette burns in carpet. No hotel booklet for room service or amenities. A refrigerator that didn't work. . . .I didn't complain as we were getting a "special rate" for being part of the Martial Art conference. But I would have never paid full price for this room.
The Martial Arts Conference & trade show was great. The Hall of Fame Banquet, although a little long, was great--food was outstanding. Breakfast at the buffet style restaurant on the first floor was very good, and with a great view of the boardwalk.

“Horrible Hotel Servcie”

Would recommend staying at another hotel on the Boardwalk, I would even consider Show Boat over Tropicana at least they have reasonable hotel rates.

The entire hotel experience was bad from trying to book a room, to getting incorrect hotel keys, to no hot water, to rude hotel Mangers. Tropicana has no idea how to run a hotel and should send their employees to hospitality classes. If you have any issues with your room forget trying to get someone to help, they just don't care.

On a plus they have good restaurants at the hotel, which by the way is independent of Tropicana Casino and run by individual companies.

“Returning customers not valued”

I am planning a special trip to Atlantic City in April with my boyfriend, nephew, and his companion. My nephew recently graduated and is in his first year of residency as a veterinarian. He DEFINITELY needs a relaxing break. I have stayed at the Tropicana three times in the past two years and although I wasn't always ecstatic about the rooms, it was my first choice when comparing hotels because of the casino and the Quarter. Both my boyfriend and myself have Diamond Club cards and we have quite a bit of money put aside to "blow" for this trip so I assumed that we would be treated with respect when calling to inquire about our next stay. I called the reservation line and was hoping to explain our plans for the special date. Instead, I spoke to the rudest woman ever! Every time I tried to ask a question, she cut me off within two words. I gave her our Diamond Club numbers and her only response was "no comps". I wasn't expecting a free room or anything of the sort. We were hoping to be guided to a good experience by a professional. We HAD planned to spend most of our time gambling at the Trop. Now...definitely having second thoughts. We have now booked our rooms at Caesars. I've always loved playing at the Trop but wondering whether we should just play where we stay instead.

Room Tip: We always had a great view from the Havana Tower. However, they are now non-smoking.

“good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Overall, the hotel/Casino lobby looks good, elevators are in good condition and service staff was cordial. Property is a bit dated and sleeping rooms need to be redone. The ballroom was spacious well lit and served the purpose. I would attaend another convention/event there. Casino and gambling tables were busy. Food outlets were clean and well kept

“Not Good”

I recently stayed at the Hotel and used a Gift Card to pay for the Room yet I was still charged on my Credit Card and the guy who wasn't capable of doing his job never actually used the gift card so they are saying there is nothing they can do and I am out $250.00. I have stayed in this Hotel a few times and there are plenty of better Hotels/Casinos to stay in. The Service is not the best even the Dealers are NOT friendly. I would go for Dinner and nightlife but stay & play elsewhere.
