“DON'T COME HERE”

Booked my stay at The Chelsea using a livingsocial deal for the Annex and was extremely disappointed. In fact, I was so disappointed that I created a Trip Advisor account just to rate them and advise others to avoid booking at the hotel (I have posted several pictures of the hotel).

They fail to clearly distinguish the difference between the Annex and the Luxe rooms, which have a clear distinction. College students looking to have a good time and throw a party in the room with friends for a reasonable price should book the Annex. As for the Chelsea Hotel, the valet service and room service staff are superb. However, the front desk was rude and barely catered to their guests. The front desk was rude when I had asked for shaving cream and toothpaste, which they couldn’t provide. They also failed to address the hotel room party that the neighboring room had thrown.

The quality of the room itself was far different from what livingsocial had advertised. If the hotel really wanted to bring in a consistent clientele, they should have showcased the best part of the hotel. The bathroom was disgusting and had stains everywhere. The furniture in the room was either ancient or cheap. Additionally, there was water damage on the ceiling.

Teplitsky’s was also far from superb as it had been described by others. If you have come from the NYC metropolitan area, you can find diners infinitely better than Teplitsky’s.

Finally, The Chelsea is far from the better casino’s in AC. You are better off spending a few extra dollars to go to Borgata, Caesar or any other hotels on the strip.

“Charming place/avoid annex”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I really wanted to like the Chelsea, and I DO, in many ways. Pros: Good look, great location, good restaurant in lobby, nice beds and sheets, wifi and the desk helpful and superfast (can't understand complaints in other comments.) The women there were friendly and found us alternatives when the two annex rooms we were first given BOTH smelled strongly of mildew. The rooms we moved into smelled better but it would have been nice if the doors to their terraces locked. I play poker and sometimes leave cash in the room--or I do when I can lock it in. Also, lights broken in one and smoke alarm beeping in another of the 4 rooms: not a big deal, easily fixed, but not a sign of close attention, either. Tower might well be a different story, but l I would say, for now: avoid the annex.

Room Tip: Stick to the tower?

“Staff don't care, weak management”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Arrived at noon on Jan 1 and asked for a high floor on the Annex wing room facing the street. Was told had to wait an hour but staff would call. Even took my cell phone down on credit card slip. Left with girlfriend for food and waited. 1pm no call, 2pm I called and was told that room assignments were always "first come first served", I explained my situation and lady then told me to wait till 3pm. 3pm - no call from the Chelsea. I called at 330pm and was told that room was ready - yay! At 4pm, we were told that the only room available was on the first floor, where traffic sounds were the worst, and of course I was reminded again that it's "first come first served". By then, I just put up a weak resistance and took the crappy room. Nobody cares really...three "fierce" women laughing, having a good time, playing God. You're just a speckle in their way and they are under no obligation to help YOU, the guest/customer. Will neve stay here again and I will forbid any of my friends from doing so.

“I miss Hojo's!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

I stayed here when it was Hojo's. Sounds like they did was take down the Hojo sign, and put up the Chelsea sign. It was cheap and worth every penny. The sheets that didn't fit the bed, but hey this is normal in third world countries. The room was very hot, like I had my own private sauna! The radiator was better than a furnace. (I burned the bodies.) The pool was awesome. It was so hot that steam rose off it, like a huge hot tub. Looked like a Scottish lake. I am very sad that the pool isn't indoors anymore. Well located hotel, I was near Dunkin and 7-11 for 24-7 coffee. I had a great, cheap time at Hojo, damn the Chelsea for tripling its prices.

Room Tip: Street view is very entertaining, at all hours.

“Great room, great service, great price, great everything!”

I stayed at the Chelsea on a Saturday night in the annex avenue king. Do yourself a favor and don't waste 300-500$ on a room anywhere else. The Chelsea has everything you could need. I reccomend calling up or going to the website and booking one of their special deals to get more for your money. I booked the rise and shine package and mentioned trip advisor and received free valet parking (it's $10.00 otherwise) and a 15$ credit for breakfast at their restaurant Teplitzkys, which was well worth it, fresh and delicious. I was afraid that the room would have been less than expected because its not the 'luxe tower' but honestly there were no major disappointments with my stay. Nice big windows that opened to a balcony, hot water, flat screen tv with multiple movie channels, huge king size and unbelievably comfortable bed. They have room service, a spa, a pool bar and I believe even a night club. I was happy with my stay and the customer service was great. Its right next to the Tropicana casino. And if you need to go anywhere theres a shuttle called the Jitney right up the block. The Chelsea should open some kind of rewards program because I WILL be going back very soon. Next time I will stay in the luxe king only because I want to compare and I got an amazing deal on Living Social. Other than that I would stay in the annex over and over again.
