“we like surfside”

My partner and I have stayed at Surfside 3 times in the past few yrs, we've always enjoyed our stay and never had any complaints, we dont need the best of everything to have a good time nor are we spoiled and complain about too much.
We will be going back to A.C this August and will be staying at the Surfside again, and we are aware the pool is NOT open.

Stayed July 2006

“worst hotel ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2007

My boyfriend and I were planning a trip to AC for the night. It was last minute, but we wanted reservations at a hotel before we left. It was a Saturday night, so almost all the major casino's were priced in the 250-500s. I came across the Surfside Resort Hotel, but 'resort' it is not. I looked at the pictures on the website, which appeared nice and cozy. They offered a romanitc package for 200 per person for the night, which include a deluxe room, king sized bed, whirlpool tub, bottle of red wine upon arrival and couple massages in the comfort of your hotel room. We didn't choose that route, and ended up paying 130 for a king sized bed room. Upon arrival the hotel was deserted, and it was almost 8:00PM. The inside of the hotel looked NOTHING like the pictures. At check in, the printer broke, and it took about 20 minutes to fix. Once fixed, we had to sign a relase stating, among other things, that we could not complain about noise, as some of the rooms were subject to loud noise. My boyfriend ran out to the car while I was inside checking-in, when he was approached by a prostitute in the parking lot. Our room was on the 3rd floor, with an outside and inside entrance. Our balcony overlooked the pool, which was closed, although advertised on the website as open and heated and the entrance to the club. The door to the outside enterance had blinds, which were completly crumpled and torn. The room was somewhat bareable, we kept it as we were going to be in the casino's for most of the time. The floor was disgusting, and we did not put our barefeet on it. My boyfriend attempted to take a shower (with sandals on), but halfway through his shower, we lost all cold water. I went down to the front desk, who were not apologetic at all. It took about 20 minutes for them to fix the problem. One employee actually told me to sue. My boyfriend actually has burn marks from the scolding hot water. After gambling we returned to the hotel. We were aware that there was an after hours club, which actually was a reason that we chose the hotel. We went to the club. If you are homophobic, stay away. About half of the people in the club were gay or transvestite. We had no problems with that, and went into the club, which was extremely small and grungy. They played techno and most of the people were dancing, the music was extremely loud. We sat at the bar, and were the only ones ordering any alcohol. They sold bottled water for $5, which seemed to be the most popular choice. The bartenders were horrible, not sure if they actually knew how to bartend (and I am a bartender). We went to the room at about 4:00PM. We could hear the music loud and clear, until 9:00AM.
Needless to say, we were out of the hotel way before check out time.

To sum it up, the hotel was horrible. DO NOT go by the pictures, which look nothing like the hotel. If you are a bargian hunter for hotel rooms, some of the rooms are bareable, but borderline disgusting, and I am a bargain hunter. The employees are rude, and do not care about their customers. And as someone said in a previous review, the 'No Refund' sign says it all...

  • Liked — close to the major casinos like Sands, Bally's
  • Disliked — everything about the actual hotel... which is not a resort, as stated in it's name!

“DONT DO IT unless you are into meth/ecstasy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2006

I must admit I stayed here before.
The 1st time was Memorial Day weekend. It was the only hotel w/ any rooms(for real). We paid $200.00 for the "deluxe" suite.
The floor was soaking wet by the bathroom.
Forgetting my girlfriend was passed out nude I asked
the male clerk to come to the room...mind you he had already been very rude earlier.
He looked at the carpet and my g/f and said NO Refunds.
It was gross, but we stayed.
That stay was pretty queit. After all we were in the deluxe suite,
so we only heard slight meth disco music, I thought it was coming from another room.

The location of the hotel is great for the Sands casino if you dont mind being asked if you want to buy heroin or crack or being invited into a strip club to dance. We can get past that.

So we decided to book a room ahead at the Surfside in July.
(we should have our head examined) We told them no need for the deluxe suite as we wanted something cheaper.
Mind you there is no room worth more then 40.00 at this place.

They booked us in a room by the pool. Outside enterance to the room.
What a mistake! What can I say.
The drawer next to my bed had a white powder substance in it.
The other drawer had a porn mag in it.
The room was dirty and stunk. The bathroom was gross.

We left to go to the casino had a great time. Came back got into the bed and the music started, if you call it music.
The noise played ALL NIGHT LONG . We tried to turn a/c on but
the mildew smell was too great.
I give you my word as we were leaving the next morning the music was still blarring. It NEVER stopped.
We said something to the manager, Carlos, and he said it doesnt stop until after noon. Also something about drugged crazy kids.
I want to stress the music was played by the hotel, not guests.

They could not pay me to stay there again.
Had I known there was a site like this I would have given a review
much sooner to warn others.
Oh one more thing, the pictures they show on the website are not from this hotel, no way not on any day.

“WHAT A MESS!!!!”

This may be hard to believe but this hotel should be closed or fined as you will see after I am through with this review and the Atlantic City Chamber of Comerce contacted.
Upon checkin the female desk clerk could not check me in because she did not know how. She requested no I.D. or signature @ all. I later that evening did get a receipt which was incorrect. (surprise). What kind of hotel does not require I.D.?
Upon checking in, we found a dirty glass, a door stopper and an overpowering air freshener on the floor of our room. Let alone the roach in the fridge. We brought these items to the desk and were laughed at! Absolutely unacceptable behavior for a guest relations agent?! nasty!!
We should have ran while we still had the chance but wanted to enjoy our night at Trump Taj Mahal show.
Upon exiting our room for the evening our door handle fell off and it was not until we reached the casino that we realised that our clock was never changed for daylight savings time. (surprise).
The newer portion of the hotel housed prostitutes, drugs and he/she's. scary to see let alone folks.....
Stear clear of this disater! You truely are risking yourself and your loved ones security and safety.
(WE HAVE CONTACTED THE ATLANTIC CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE)

“What A Dump!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2006

This hotel has to be the biggest dump on the planet. It is so bad its something out of a movie. The room smelled, the place is filthy, the City itself is a complete dump as well. If you have no place else to go, BRING YOUR OWN SHEETS, PILLOWS, AND DISSINFECTANT FOR THE BATHROOM. If we didnt bring our own sheets, we would have slept in the car, NO KIDDING. The ghetto night clubs next door play their horrible house music ALL NIGHT, i mean straight through to 9am. It shakes the walls. Nothing but broken glass, trash, and large groups of homeless scum from the hotel to the boardwalk. We had to deal with no less than 25, some who are confrontational. Then there were the two girls smoking crack outside in the parking garage. DO NOT STAY THERE. Its almost comical how the web site makes it look compared to real life.
You may hear some people say thats part of the charm, and they have been going to AC their entire life, but believe me, IT IS A COMPLETE TRASH PIT. They must be just used to the crackhead and garbage.
If you are a ghetto club bunny, a crack head, or a fan of judy Garlin you might like it, but this place makes a trailer park look like high society.
WHEN WILL AC GET ITS ACT TOGETHER AND GET RID OF THE CRACK HOUSES AND HOMELESS BUMS??
Go to Vegas, its worth the flight, (and i only live an hour from AC)

  • Liked — GOING HOME, and there were some hot looking slutty girls here and there.
  • Disliked — the filth, the loud music all night , the bums and crack whores outside
  • Tips/Secrets — dont go to this hotel unles your into crack
