This review is pretty long, so here's a quick rundown:
Firstly, I am not at all picky when it comes to hotels. I've stayed in my share of no frills places, but this hotel was absolutely terrible, everything about it. The location was close to the action, but not close enough. It was in a shady part of town that I wouldn't want to walk to at night. Rude desk people and the whole hotel smells, particularly the hallways and rooms (even non-smoking). Dirtiness of rooms leads to a feeling of sanitary concerns. Ended up paying for the room and not even staying the night. Couldn't even be partially refunded. Ended up calling Days Inn customer service just to let them know how terrible the experience was, and even they were rude. Will NEVER BE STAYING IN ANOTHER DAYS INN BECAUSE OF THIS TRIP.
Like most of the reviews, I found this to be an absolutely terrible experience. We were in AC for a night and made the split second decision to stay for another. We made a few phone calls and found that this Days Inn had relatively low rates in a good location. We decided to book it over the phone and take our luggage over to check in. This is where things went wrong...
The first thing I noticed was the hotel's surroundings. It's in a location that I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable walking to late at night after leaving the casinos. Lots of homeless and seemingly abandoned buildings and parking lots nearby. Once we went inside I noticed an odor in the lobby that was very unpleasant. We continued to check in to our room and found that our non-smoking room smelled strongly of smoke. Bathroom was very dirty. Found what we believe may have been bedbugs under the mattress. We spent about five whole minutes in our room before we left and never came back.
We talked to the desk person to see if we might be able to get all, or even some of our money back. He refused any sort of refund, claiming that since we had checked in he couldn't do anything about it. We decided to simply take the hit and go stay at one of the casinos. The feeling of relief once we checked into our room there was amazing, but we were still a little bummed about the money that we had just wasted.
Once we got home, we called the main Days Inn company's customer service. We didn't necessarily want anything, we just wanted to let them know how terrible the experience was, and tell them that this particular hotel in the chain was bringing down the standards of the company. I was very nice on the phone, and was greeted with rudeness. The customer service representative practically called me a liar, and seemingly didn't care that I was saying I might never be staying at another Days Inn. After the phone call, I KNOW I'll never be staying at another Days Inn.
Do yourself a favor and don't stay here.
