My husband and I received a 4 day/3 night complimentary stay with a free buffet and show at the Flagship Resort in November. (NOTHING is really free...We missed the three day cut off that guaranteed 800.00 back that we deposited...now we have to use it toward purchase, or lose it...be warned!) Of course it wasn't ideal weather, but gratefully the week of Thanksgiving was unseasonably warm. We arrived and check in was fast and easy, the front desk staff were very amenable and patient as I called them to ask lots of questions. The elevators were down when we first came in July and again now in November. .We were in the elevator and it dropped to the first floor because they were testing. Another time we waited so long, we decided to stair it to the 3rd floor from the 26th floor! The 'studio' as it was called, looked like a double bed hotel room with a refrigerator, dishwasher and platform stove and sink. It wasn't bad. Everything was clean, but we were hoping for the corner studio we saw in the tour. When we asked about it, but the staff said there were no studio corner rooms, just one bedroom. Of course we felt confused because we KNOW we saw it in the tour. We later found out that she was wrong. There WERE studio-corner rooms which were more attractive to us because of the shape of the room and double view. We did however, have a nice view of the water from our balcony. Amenities included Flatscreen TV and modern comforters, flatware, stem and dishes etc. Everything was fine UNTIL the second night. I got up in the middle of the night and was horrified to see a
R O A C H!!!!!!!!!!!! I was disgusted and screamed loud enough for my husband to half kill himself coming to my aid!...we killed it but ....because it was so late...I was calmed enough to finish out the night without moving...however by morning, I was on patrol and lo and behold ANOTHER R O A C H!!! Climbed on the sink!!!...My husband nor I have NEVER lived with or experienced roaches in our homes throughout or lives. So we let the staff know to make no mistake that these disgusting bugs did NOT come from us. We changed rooms immediately after filling out an incident report. The room we moved to was the same but the comforters were from the 1980's. We only had one more night and we decided to leave early due to the snow that was coming. ..I think we would've left early anyway. .
In terms of the surrounding area, they really have to work on the boardwalk that was destroyed by Sandy. The main road was ROUGH on the way to the casinos and shopping. Fire trucks and police sirens were everyday..ALL day and the area was shady and questionable. I wouldn't feel safe walking around there. We drove everywhere. MY husband was approached for money everyday by individuals that may have been homeless. Very down trodden area. We saw a food pantry helping those in need which was great. AC should some more things for them so they don't have to beg.
However, as a vacation spot, I think we are resolved to have lost our money. We most likely will not be back. The money also went toward us being able to book the place at a so - called lower rate..60.00 per day for the studio...I don't think it's worth it now.
