“You can get way better hotels for this price”

Seriously i have been to a lot of places and a lot of hotels and i can honestly say that this hotel kinda sucks. Its not like a terrible experience but it is a very poor one. Not all rooms have control for the air conditiner which can make ur room either way too cold or way to hot without u being able to do anything. None of the rooms have a phone!!!! Like wth, if u have a question, complaint or a need u have to go all the way to the front desk! The beach is nice but there is no bar close to it or waiters, which sucks big time! Their Japanese restaurant is the worst asian restaurant i have ever been to and u need a reservation for it!! And the service was not horrible but not good at all. When we did the reservation we paid on the decameron agency for our cab back and even though we had in the same receipt that we had paid our hitel the paynent for our cab, they said they didnt provide this service and "couldnt" do anything about it, as if it was too hard to take the $20 that we paid to make a customer happy. Any ways i do not recomend this hotel at all, i would stay at the Aquarium just for some extra bucks.

“Perfect for couples !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

I do believe this is only for couples and only if you have the purpose of not leaving the hotel . I had the best room , the balcony was over the water , you can literally wake up open the door and directly swim.
The package I took include all meals all beverages but did not include the extra activities like snorkeling , kayaking so it became more expensive but worth it .
The service is good but if you want to make it better just be a good tipper! Colombians are really really nice people.
I would not recommend it for family , but for friends it is perfect ! you can party all day and night .
However be careful not to choose a room near the swimming pool , because you will not sleep all night !

Room Tip: Choose the rooms that have the balcony over the sea.

“What kind of resort doesn't have phones in the room...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Well I wasn't expecting a luxury hotel or anything, but the rooms were horrible and the people at the front desk were worse. I asked to book another room because I didn't want to share my room or a bed with someone (I went with about ten people and got stuck with another person) and the person at the front desk just kept telling me how expensive it is to book another room and that if I had the funds to do so in a belittling tone. Which made me really angry because of course I did or else why would I even bother asking, I didn't go on vacation to waste my time. In the end they did nothing and the person I was going to stay with bunked with someone else instead. The guy serving drinks at that hotdog/burger place was really rude and didn't want to serve us and proceeded to make us wait until he served all the foreign tourist (which is ironic cause I am one too, but I spoke spanish to make communicating easier) who got there way after us and then rudely asked us what we wanted. The food was better than I expected. As for the rooms the walls are very thin and you can hear everything that's happening upstairs. There are no phones in the rooms either which baffled me, it's 2011 now get with the program. Concerning the price I really don't think it's worth it. I stayed at the Dann Carlton (Cali) for the same amount of days for the same price (I know it's not as big of a tourist destination as San Andres and it didn't include food, but still way better service and no complaints and they had phones!!). Final point I will never set foot in the San Luis again.

Room Tip: Don't ever loose your blue towel or be ready to pay about $30.

“Had a great time”

Well, I am colombian that lives in NYC. Went to this hotel with my colombian and US family and we had a blast. Yes, this is not a luxury hotel but is clean -very clean-, comfortable and truly all inclusive. The rooms are very simple don't expect anything luxurious. San Adres is not known for having good food in general, but I must say that I was not dissapointed with the food at this hotel. I thought it was pretty good, and always abundant with many choices. I did not try the japanese restaurant, why bother I eat japanese all the time here in NY. Based on previous reviews about security I did not use the safebox in our room. Everybody was very friendly, the guys at the bars were so nice and creative, they made me try different cocktails during my stay...if you are drinking whisky please don't expect Chivas Reagal or Patron for tequila...yes, those cocktails are made with cheap alcohol but whatever, I was on vacation....so anything with an umbrella would do it for me. The entertainment was great. I was really impressed, they have different shows every night and fun activities like karaoke and contests. They also have activities for the kids all day long. Plus, I truly enjoyed the location, I always liked that part of the Island...the center is just way too noisy for me. So bottom line, if you are up for a great time in a beautiful island this is your place, but if you are a snob and want a luxury resort go elsewhere, and I don't think you will find it in San Andres.

“So bad! Just went b/c there was a 3 day "visa run" special...ONLY OK if you're in High School and don't know better.”

Wow...we just laughed about it and pretended like we were camping in a small, dank tent with a rusty mini fridge and AC. Went on a lark, it was 2 for 1 or something like that. We brought our own sheets, thank god, thinking it might be what it ended up being: the most ghetto, cattle car, all inclusive mess you can possibly imagine. Imagine Panama City Beach (where I went in High School and was "awesome" when I was 15) and then add a huge mass of...uh...interesting French Canadians and other sorted cheapskates...pepper in the requisite completely gross buffet food and you have the worlds worst "beached whale" of a non mobile, lowest-class cruise ship/bucket you could imagine. It's that bad. Thankfully we hooked up with "Williams" who is the best cab driver on the island. SUPER nice guy, We spent most of our time on the West View side of the island eating crab toes and drinking Aguilas. Went fishing and had fun. Diving and snorkeling was really quite good. Take it for what it is.....but really, really...it's that bad. Buyer beware. Of all the Decameron Resorts on that little island, San Luis has got to be the worst. The upside to this tale, however, is that the Decameron Marazul was quite nice and we spent a few evenings there having drinks (you get to goto all the Decameron resorts if you stay at one of them) and it's just a few dollars more. That would have been much better...still in the same horrible bottom tier all inclusive realm...but definitely a large step up from San Luis! Oh...and the Parrot Guy is a weird drunk scammer who gets mad at you if you take a photo with him and don't pay him enough money...we just deleted the photo to get him to shut up. If you somehow end up there after this review, you'll see what I'm talking about. Good Luck~

Room Tip: There aren't any, I'm quite certain.
