“Honeymoon on a hidden island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Hotel- Beautiful grounds, attentive staff some speak English and Spanish or only Spanish. Entertainment staff not so great but if you don't like it you can always go to another Decameron Resort for the day and come back later. Many walkways, leads to pier over the water where you can tan, get drinks or even go to the club

Food- Absolutely delicious. Flavor in every spoon and forkful. Hit or miss with the staff, but to be honest if you spend your time looking for a smile or pleasantries, you'll be disappointed by the ones who don't give it.

Rentals- Rented a golf for $100,000 pesos with a $50,000 deposit in pesos for the day across the street from the hotel to tour the whole island. Rented a Jet Ski from the beach down the street from a guy on the beach 1/2hour $100,000 pesos. Good times!

Went swimming off the pier at the hotel, went on a day tour to Johnny Cay and then The Aquarium Island to eat and swim with fish/even touched a stingray!

Rooms- Functional, clean, and beautiful view from your bedside if you wish to watch the sunrise. I love listening to the wave too.

Memorable honeymoon! We will be returning!

Room Tip: If you want to be near the restaurant, bar, pool and night entertainment. Get a room in tower 6,15,a...

The staff is friendly and helpful. The property itself is beautiful. San Andres itself is not the nicest island one could travel to.

The hotel was old and in need of renovations by north American standards. The food was horrible for an all inclusive and the property just didn't seem clean.

“just decent .. nickel and dime ya .. not worth the $$$ - could have been”

i stayed at the property last week: check in process can be improved upon drastically, we sat in a room similar to a church hall and was called up one at a time.. THANK GOD they were not busy, i could not imagine if they were busy. no welcome drink nada. we arrived during heavy rain and quickly found out that both options for the open bars were located outside (a walk down a pier) in the rain. not a chance for an all inclusive drink indoors. The 3USD per day for the lock for the safe was BS. It gets better - if you want a reservation at one of the three restaurants better wake up early - around 7:00 AM. we did one day and ate at the thai option. I got eaten alive by mosquitos as soon as i sat down. i was bleeding from the bites on my legs. dinning was rushed and the food was not made to order, i asked for the spicy curry and it was bland. The sushi appitizer (2 pieces) was chicken. Transfers are included in the rate : however up on leaving the bell person attempted to say that i had to pay for the taxi. apx $2.50 US. its the principle of the matter. the GOOD - staff at the barracudda buffet went above and beyond each and every night to insure we had a good meal. That was the best part of the trip by far. the wifi was also a profit center for the resort by the hr.

“Unique experience at Aquarium”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We stayed at The Decameron Aquarium and did not know what to expect when arriving. We had won the vacation from a radio station, and from the moment we landed at the airport, until we reached our room, we knew we were in for something very different. The staff were very friendly and helpful in many ways. Spanish is the main language spoken, but English is a spoken all over the island. Our room was facing the main pier and sea food restaurant. We could stand on our balcony and watch fish swim by, as our building was built about 200 ft off the shore. I have never seen water more clear, and calm then at our resort. The main town is less then a 5 minute walk out the front gate and the shopping is incredible. The food at Aquarium was good. I have told many people over time that this is a very unique vacation to take. I would go back in a second. Renting a golf cart for a tour around the island is a must.

Room Tip: try to get an ocean view room. The view is incredible.

“A very good choice!”

Aquarium is a great choice if you want good service, beautiful views and fantastic food!
Next time I go to San andres, this will definitly be my choice, in a great location is near the commercial zone for shopping, and a few steps away from the night clubs.

The downside is the long process of the check-in. Be patient because you will lose sometime getting a room.

All in all I recommend it.
