My stay in Porton Medellin Hotel was as always very good: Very clean hotel, excellent service, fair price. I wish to distinguish the helpful for everyone.

I was not even occur to investigate other hotels in Medellin, I love the hotel and its service ... Among other things I like wood floors of the rooms ... the food is excellent, and attention unmatched in Guest Relations department!

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times already as well as other hotels in Medellin, including the Intercontinental, and by far, El Porton has been the best experieience with larger and better furnished rooms, excellent service and a very, very good location.

I stayed at this property in late July 2007.

The room was quite large. Internet access was average. Location was first class, in the middle of El Poblado (the area where you want to be in Medellin), and right next to the Oviedo Shopping Mall, and another large 24 hour a day Supermarket chain. That is important.

Drawbacks? The hotel has only one lift, delays were not infrequent at peak hour, and the buffet breakfast was very poor. I wouldn't be put off by this, because the location and the room size outweigh the negatives.

Prices? It was about $150 per night, which is not bad and much cheaper than Bogota or Cartagena.

I'd recommend the hotel to the business or leisure traveller.

I recently stayed at the Porton de Medellin. I found this property to be clean, modern, safe and the service was excellent.

The guest rooms were spacious and oversized. The guest room had a nice TV with satellite channels, cd player, minibar, hard wood floors, and nice decor. The marble bathroom was an added bonus.

The location is in an area of Medellin called Poblado. This is an upmarket area of Medellin with posh condos, nice restaurants, excellent nightlife and expensive stores. This hotel is located almost adjacent to the Oviedo Mall which is a very nice place to take a walk and people watch.

The service was always excellent. The front desk staff was very accommodating and eager to help in anyway possible. I remember in particular Yazmin whose beautiful smile always made passing by the reception a pleasure. The wait staff, housekeeping and bell boys too were alway at my service. I was very well taken care of the the Porton.

While I enjoyed my stay at the Porton, I did find the hotel to be rather expensive. I believe I paid about 250,000 pesos per night which is a lot of money in Colombia. I would return to this hotel if I could secure a better rate, otherwise it may be a bit out of my budget.
