We stayed two nights at Casa La Fe. Even during the short black out (across the entire city), the staff was pleasant and accommodating. We were a little nervous about staying on the first floor right outside the dining area, but it was really nice. It was a bit loud in the morning, so if you want a quiet morning, ask to stay upstairs. Still, the room was clean, the breakfast good and the happy hour was a nice touch. Also, the beds are very firm (which I love).

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and had a wonderful stay. It is located on a lively but not raucous plaza in the beautiful old walled part of Cartagena. The room was rather small but comfortable and the bathroom was clean. We were only able to reserve a room on the first floor off the main courtyard where breakfast is served and happy hour drinks are offered in the evening, so there was a lack of privacy in that regard and noise early in the morning. I would highly recommend reserving a room on the second or third floor instead. The service was very courteous, too.

We stayed 11 days at the Hotel Casa La Fe which is located in the center of the old city facing a nice plaza. The hotel is within easy walking distance to restaurants, shopping and museums within the walled city. We found the room to be pleasantly spacious, clean and quite comfortable. The breakfast served in the always pleasant and comfortable garden courtyard was excellent with a variety of menu items and always great coffee and fresh juices. The evening happy hour also in the courtyard and the roof top pool, especially after sun set, are also great features of the hotel. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Especially Adolfredis who, despite his claims to the contrary, spoke quite good English. We felt quite safe and secure in the hotel and in the entire walled city. Cartagena was a wonderful experience. The charm of Hotel Casa La Fe and the great staff were an integral part of a fabulous vacation. I would highly recommend the hotel and hope to return one day soon.
One note of caution -- be careful of ATM use. We used the stand alone ATM near the hotel on St Agustin. Our credit card information was stolen and we had ATM withdrawals made after our return home.
BUT the city of Cartagena was GREAT, the Hotel Casa La Fe was GREAT and the whole vacation was GREAT. We would do it all again in a heartbeat.
