“Great experience, hope to stay there again”

We just returned from Cartagena and were very pleased with our stay at San Pietro. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was healthy and very filling. We met the owner who was also very friendly. It's about 5 minutes from the old walled city and you can either take a bus for 1,300 or taxi for 5,000 pesos. There are plenty of places to eat, shop and banks with ATMs within walking distance. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The room was quiet and kept very, very clean throughout our 7 nights stay. Nice plasma tv if you're looking for some down time in your room.

“Gourgeous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

Just gorgeous. Simply fantastic.
In spite of being in the caribe for this our last trip and another years, it feels great to discover a new gem.
Everything is personalised: service, rooms, decoration, incredible pasta and other marvellous dishes.
Beside is is in the historical place, the main one of Cartagena de Indias and really close to the major beaches.
Hope in a future would be able to return.

“Comfortable experience!”

Hotel San Pietro is in a really good spot with everything happening in walking distance such as restaurants between high end and lower end, shopping area for souvenirs (which are way cheaper than the ppl selling in the streets and in the tourist attraction sites) one block behind, beaches which appear dirty because of the black sand but are really not, pharmacies, money exchange 24hrs, horse and carriage tour rides, chiva tours that pick you up right in front of the hotel which go to the old city and all the other places, etc. The only con about the chiva is that everything happens really quickly and you have to be quick when purchasing and getting the correct change. You also need to be able to bargain prices with these vendors because they will definitely try to rip you off if you cant. They are also very persistent and patient so once you express some type of interest or display too long of an eye contact they will walk with you for distances trying to persuade to buy so you have to be firm at times.

The hotel is very clean and has all the amenities as an international hotel. The rooms are equipped with TV, vanity, air condition, comfortable bed (s) refrigerator, hair dryer, hot and cold water and a big enough closet. Also there are different types of rooms for single persons, double or trip and also for families some with kitchenettes, etc. This hotel is actually more bang for your buck than some of the hotels on South Beach Miami I have stayed in, in terms of decor, cleanliness, service and room/hotel amenities. The hotel staff is very friendly and pleasant. Although it is a small hotel you do not really feel as if you are getting less in any way. The Hotel's restaurant is fine as well and so is the breakfast dining.

Overall, location is great if you want to party, site see, shop, dine or bathe in the sea as well the hotel is great if you just want to stay in, in the middle of everything. I would definitely recommend to anyone!

“A simple quaint respite from the craziness of the Bocagrande streets”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2010

This is a quaint little hotel that seems out of place nestled amongst the restaurants and high rise condos of Bocagrande. The room decor is simple and rustic with a mixture of different pieces of furniture, some old, some new, all crammed into the room. The bathrooms are adequate. What is nice is the fact that it is so quiet once you get inside the hotel away from the noises of the street. The breakfast courtyard is a lovely place to sit, read and use your laptop as is the rooftop patio where there is a mixture of hammocks, sun loungers, patio tables & chairs and a couple of spa tubs. There are plenty of cheap restaurants serving simple Colombian food within a block of the hotel, including a Juan Valdez Cafe shop. There are also 2 decent supermarkets within 5 blocks of the hotel - an Olimpica (low-medium end) and a Carulla (medium-high end). We enjoyed walking to the ice-cream store in the evenings for our nightly ice-cream fix - about 2 blocks away. The complimentary breakfast is good - eggs, meat, fresh fruit, baked goods, juices, coffee. I highly recommend the adjacent restaurant owned and managed by the owner of the hotel - Senor Pietro. It is very good food - not just Italian although the pizzas are good, as well as the grilled meats on skewers. Reasonable prices. The hotel staff are very friendly and willing to help with any requests. Good if you can speak a little spanish to help communications. A 5 minute taxi ride to the Old walled city cost us $2.50 each way and taxis are constantly cruising past the hotel. We did that for 3 days to see various parts of the old city and have dinner. I recommend a walk to Castillogrande to see a nicer part of the beach area - it's about a 30 minute stroll from the hotel to the end of the beach where it's predominantly high rise condos, no restaurants but it is quiet, there are good views of the port and the beach is clean. Hotel da Pietro (actually called Hotel san Pietro) is not a high-end hotel but it's friendly, clean and simply decorated with some traditional touches scattered around. The rooms are reasonably priced, it's safe and the staff are very pleasant.

“Lovely hotel, but a bit to far away from Cartagena old town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2010

A very nice hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast is very tasty. The restaurant serves very good food and is very cozy. The only thing to its downside is the location. Bocagrande is the beachtown south of Cartagena town and you have to take a taxi to get to it.
