My wife and I spent a delightful week at the Capilla del Mar over Christmas, and everything was first-rate. The staff is most welcoming and they convey a consistent friendliness and good cheer, and this runs true from the doormen and bellhops to the waitresses and the guys like Roberto and Luiz who run the bar stand at the beach. The breakfast buffet features wonderful fresh fruit and juices, and lunches were also reliable. The San Marino restaurant serves superb grilled steaks and fish, and the pizzas are high quality as well. The roof-top pool is a bitsmall, but the panoramic views are spectacular. The Hotel is ideally situated on the beach at Bocagrande, and it is only a couple minutes walk to the local shopping. Cab rides to the historic old city are very cheap and easy to grab any time of day or night. It would be very hard to find a superior choice of accommodation for exploring all that the fabulous city of Cartagena has to offer. Ask for a room overlooking the beach and you will start each day with a specacular view of the shore and the fortressed old city in the distance.

This hotel was across from the beach, rooms were spacious and clean. We had to wait for over an hour to get 1 room (we had booked 3). Several events were planned and announced (folklore show, talk, singer) then cancelled but no notice was made of the cancellation. Generally a good hotel. Breakfast buffet was very nice.

Very centrally located right across from the main beach area and near a variety of stores and restaurants. Due to a renovation, the hotel offers two types of rooms: renovated and modern or "traditional" but non-renovated. I chose the renovated room and wound up with a wonderful ninth floor modern room with a balcony and view of the beach. Very spacious room with two double beds and excellent free Wifi. The pool on the 22nd floor has a fantastic view but a so-so bar. You can choose from at least 5 places to eat: a gourmet restaurant with buffet at lunch; sheltered patio first floor restaurant, beach location, the bar at the pool, and a bar on the 21st floor. I was there for business but it was a delightful oasis in a warm, humid climate. Would definitely stay there again.

I booked this hotel in a packet deal I got on Cheaptickets. Upon arrival in Cartagena, at the Hotel - Hotel Capilla del Mar, my reservation could not be found. I ended up goign online and forwarding the hotel confirmation to the Hotel. And after an hour waiting, I got checked in and upgraded to a suite!

The hotel room was simple but had a balcony that wrapped from the bedroom to the living area. The decor was a bit "dank" but it doesn't matter because I spent more time OUT of the hotel than IN it.

The breakfast was included in my package price and was delicious with an assortment of exotic fruits, buffet items and made-to-order omlettes.

The staff was incredibly accommodating to my every request and booked my local and excursion tours around the region.

LOOVED Cartagena! It was a perfect diversion from the cold and damp winter!
