I stayed here for a conference in Oct 2011. The hotel is in the center of town and 10 minutes to the university across the river so quite conveniently located. It's a huge hotel, but I had a very nice room - good size and comfortable. It was on a non-smoking floor and unlike my last hotel room in Beijing (which was also non-smoking) there was no lingering smoke odors from other units. There was a large desk and the Wi-Fi worked well and was fast.

I didn't use room service, but I ate breakfast every morning downstairs at the restaurant buffet and the selection (Chinese and Western) and quality were great. I also ate lunch there most days and it was great also.

I didn't take advantage of the other services they offer, but they all seemed top notch. There is no ATM on the grounds by there is a CBC bank literally across the street and there is a Citibank about 10-15 minutes by foot down the avenue (same side of the street and walk in the opposite direction of the river).

I noticed people mentioning the dated decor. True, but it's still a very nice hotel.

Our room was a standard room in the front of the hotel. The room and bathroom, while small, were both comfortable and in good working order. It is very obvious that this was an early "deluxe" hotel in Chengdu and now needs to be refreshed to maintain that standard. The hotel hallway had a very strong mildew smell and the staff was unfriendly. The breakfast buffet was large but unappealing - hot food was cold, the selection was poor and the staff never came to our table to offer any service. It did seem to be in a good location and we enjoyed dinner at a small restaurant nearby.

enormous bed, large room, our room was at front of hotel and had a small balcony. Interesting fire escape mask provided and yak meat pie as a snack in the room. Huge and very grand restaurant for buffet breakfast. Unfortunately the bacon and sausage were cold. good choice of asian and european food, cereals, fruit etc. Foyer was very grand and had musicians in the evening. Very small pool in basement. Good location for stroll to the central square in town . Must see the musical fountains that start about 8.30 pm. Go to the panda sanctuary and Wenshu monastery too.
Lots of roadworks outside hotel as subway being built and hotel about to have a large extension built over the next 18 months.

After staying 7 nights at the JinJiang, I can highly recommend it. Staff is friendly and take good care of the guests. The rooms and beds are very comfortable. The bathroom amenites include nail clippers and razors along with the usual kit. Room service menu has enough variety to keep you dining well for a week even if all meals are taken in your room! The hotel has a massive pool and a reasonably priced massage service. Wifi in the lobby and hi-speed connections in the room are invaluable.
