we are staying here now and have found it to be excellent, The staff have gone out of their way to assist us booking ongoing trains and buses as we head for the ice festival in Harbin. The location is very central to large malls, starbucks and the train station. Adjacent to the train station is the huge undergound shopping mall, it's enormous! Our room on the 18th floor is clean and quiet with a good view. The bathroom is not large but quite a good design, plenty of hot water and nice towels. The bed is a typical harder Chinese style but not as hard as some I have come across.
We have found the breakfast to be quite yummy, for westerners there are juices, cereals, toast, eggs (fried, etc) and some salads to add in as well as fresh fruit. There is also congee style hot porridge; not much to complain of here. Some contributers mention lack of English, but I guess if you're travelling in other lands that's what you get. All the staff at the front desk that we have met over three days have good English. We have a few Chinese phrases that we use to get by such as 'where is' and 'how much' and knowing numbers and counting is a great help; but we travel in China often for a holiday as we love it, I guess it may be different for some folks if they have to come for work.
The locals in China always seem happy to talk if you approach them, sometimes they reply in perfect English! I think in 2012 we should all aim to learn another language!
we plan to come back in summer one day; it's freezing now! And we will stay here again
