Although the room was a reasonable size, we found that the bathroom was very moldy around the sink and shower. We could hear a man coughing all night in the room beside us, so definitely is not sound proof. We were on a bus tour and one of the girls on the tour got bug bites after staying in this hotel. Suzhou is a very damp place so it may be difficult to keep out the mold. However, there is no excuse of bed bugs.

This hotel is well placed for accessing local shops and restaurants and has a lovely and well-maintained garden area. However, although we were supposed to be staying in a 5 * hotel we were in the older part where the rooms are quite shabby and the maintenance is patchy. On the other side of the gardens is the newer and more plush building( although they do have to use a covered walkway to come to the older building for meals.). The staff were generally very helpful and overall we enjoyed our stay.

Not sure whether the hotel has changed ownership since the previous reviews were written but now it extends over two separate buildings with a garden inbetween. We were in what seemed to be the newer building, the room was a good size, the bed very comfortable and there was a computer offering free internet access in the room. This was a real assett and the only time we came across this facility during our three week tour of China. The breakfast was good with a varied western selection but the drinks in the bar were expensive - to be expected I suppose. The location was OK, being very near to the Master of the Nets Garden and although there were restaurants and shops nearby there was nothing of real interest to explore. It would have been nicer to have been nearer the Grand Canal but we were advised by our guide that this was too far to walk and not a safe area to wander round at night. CErtainly an acceptable place to stay.

Enjoyed the Nanlin - wished the pool was closer.
Nice room but a/c wouldn't cool it down enough - too hot to sleep.

Good Italian restaurant outside - the Marco Polo - enjoyed the change.
