This is a really lovely hotel - the best I've ever found in China. A Chinese friend recommended it and made the booking for us - we were hot, tired and miserable after a cramped trip down the Chang Jiang when it was really too hot to enjoy anything. The Guobin was like a little oasis of comfort and calm. It's really got the 'garden' feel, the swimming pool is beautiful, the rooms are large, comfortable and clean, the food is good and excellent value for money. It's got the friendliest atmosphere of any 'western style' hotel I've stayed at in China. So often the staff in Chinese hotels are so overly attentive that you feel they're living in absolute terror of losing their job. This is definitely not the case at the Guobin - the staff are all well trained, friendly, and give the impression that they enjoy their work . The level of English spoken at the hotel - by staff at all levels - was truly impressive. The management at other hotels could learn a lot from this one! Our only regret was that we couldn't stay for another couple of nights. I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone and hope to stay there again sometime.
