We are two well travelled and fussy people .. The Guobin is one of the best hotels in the world (we have stayed at) .. easy access to Yichang centre, friendly helpful staff, great amentities and great food .. on par with the Dong fang in Beijing and the Marriott in Meux France

This is a really lovely hotel - the best I've ever found in China. A Chinese friend recommended it and made the booking for us - we were hot, tired and miserable after a cramped trip down the Chang Jiang when it was really too hot to enjoy anything. The Guobin was like a little oasis of comfort and calm. It's really got the 'garden' feel, the swimming pool is beautiful, the rooms are large, comfortable and clean, the food is good and excellent value for money. It's got the friendliest atmosphere of any 'western style' hotel I've stayed at in China. So often the staff in Chinese hotels are so overly attentive that you feel they're living in absolute terror of losing their job. This is definitely not the case at the Guobin - the staff are all well trained, friendly, and give the impression that they enjoy their work . The level of English spoken at the hotel - by staff at all levels - was truly impressive. The management at other hotels could learn a lot from this one! Our only regret was that we couldn't stay for another couple of nights. I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone and hope to stay there again sometime. The hotel pictures on the site do not do it justice.

An oasis away from the the crowds and noise of the normal chinese big city. Nicely located in a residential area, only 4 floor high, and in the midst of a park / garden. The hotel has ( besides its main wing) also a view single houses for rent in the same area.
The chinese restaurant in the hotel is also quite nice.
It is a good overnight stop after or before the Yangtze River Cruise
