We stayed here for 6 nights in a seaview deluxe room inclusive of breakfast. The room is spacious and the pool/sea view is very relaxing. There is only intranet cable in the room, but wifi in the lobby so all those tablet users have to get their internet at the lobby, which is very comfortable with a huge Christmas tree. The buffet breakfast is good though not exceptional. We stayed at a non smoking floor but the people next door had an all day smoking party with their door open, until we complained to the management, which did bring some action. Our only gripe is that there were 3-4 soldiers in green army uniform hogging the small gym every evening and leaving all the equipments dirty and sweaty. I doubt they were guests at the hotel and security needs improvement.
Coming to the hotel from the airport, the taxi driver wanted to charge us RMB50 but we insisted on paying by the meter and threatened to report him so he relented. The trip costed RMB25 inclusive of a small tip. Ability to speak Chinese helped.
The outdoor pool is generally too cold for swimming in the winter, but the fish therapy for RMB50 in the small pool next to it is fun.

If you are a hard smoker and enjoy starting your breakfast with the cigarette, have fun of dirty beaches and communication with the staff that don’t or barely speak English ignoring your requests on regular basis and living in the environment where everyone uses the opportunity to cheat you – this is a right place to go. This “5” star hotel has two restaurants with “European” and Chinese cuisine. The food is expensive and not tasty at all. Forget about customer service. The waiters forget and/or mix up your order on regular basis. In “Marina” hotel restaurant the same food can have a different quality and taste I assume it depends on the mood of the chef. Please do not take Full board option that has very limited option of meals and includes just pizza and sandwiches for lunch and kind of “sea food” and pasta for dinner. All drinks are at your own expense. We had an impression that the hotel beach has never been cleaned up, ashes and other trash is all over the place. Very limited numbers of beach beds and you have come early to get one. Swimming pool has a layer of something that keeps you away from it. I wonder why there are no any measures are taken to get rid of rats in the hotel and beach area!! Smoking is permitted almost everywhere: lobby, floors, restaurants and obviously in the room.
Please do not take 'Mountain" airport view room unless you really do not have any issues with the noise coming from airplanes arriving/departing every 10-15 minutes
In general it is disappointing that the hotel with a world known brand name managed so poorly.
Please not that this hotel located not in Yalong bay but Sanya bay

My family and I moved to this hotel after 2 nights at the Holiday Inn at Yalong Bay where our experience was pleasant but less than ideal. I very much enjoyed our one day and one night at this hotel. The rooms are very spacious and well-appointed. The beds are very comfortable.

The beach is located directly across the hotel. You do have to cross one major street to get there. Remember to get your towels a the hotel pool before you go to the beach. There is no towel service there.

The negative is that there is no wireless Internet at this hotel. For a hotel that just recently upgraded, I'm very surprised. We found this to be very inconvenient.

Additionally, we were hoping to use the Executive Club but it was closed each time we went. It is supposed to be open from 9am to 6pm but it was locked each time we checked.

Overall, a pleasant stay and we would highly consider staying here again on our next trip.

I read a lot of reviews before going to this hotel and certainly TripAdvisor helped me decide this wonderful hotel. The hotel is conveniently located in Sanya Bay which is nearly 10 mins drive by Taxi. (Don't be conned by Taxi Drivers and pay only 30 RMB one way to the hotel. We payed 60 while coming to hotel after much negotiation.)

Hotel has an average lobby and was decorated with Christmas Festivities when we checked in. The reception was warm and understood English well. We were upgraded to Sea view Deluxe Room upon arrival free of charge! We also received a complimentary Fruit Basket in our room in the evening.

The room was nice and the bed was good with Soft and Firm Pillows. The mattress I felt was little hard. The view was fantastic from the Balcony and the Sea Breeze was marvelous from the beach into our room.

The pool was huge and nice and clean, there were people cleaning the pool every morning. Only thing I would suggest is keep at least 1 pool heated as guests coming in Winters do not get to use it as the water is so cold to even step in. The Fish Pedicure is there too and people seemed to enjoy it more than normal pool because of it being heated.

The breakfast buffet was good in terms of Chinese food but not so great for Western and Vegetarian options. Pancakes appeared only once in 4 days of our stay. The Egg Station guy did not understand English so difficult to make them understand what we wanted.

Our main problem was lack of Vegetarian options and non-English speaking staff. There were two staff members Sandy and Laughing who understood English and helped us by arranging Vegetarian food by asking the Chef. This was memorable.

An advice in general I would like to give is to have more lighting in the pool area in the night to make it more vibrant. Also please make your concierge guys more efficient in getting a taxi to airport and the city and reduce waiting time for guests.

Overall a pleasant stay in Sanya and the Holiday Inn.
