Good:
Huge resort between the new and old structures
Lots of great restaurants choices within hotel ranging from Chinese to pizza and burgers and you can also take advantage of neighboring Crowne Plaza hotel
Beach access is perfect. Private with beach bar and organized beach access
Huge pools and whirl pools with a separate pool for kids equipped with water slide
Also salt water wading pool
Beds are very comfortable
Internet access within room but wifi only available in lobby
Not-so-good:
Breakfast buffet was average - decent selection but you'll tire of it quickly
Service was par, don't expect to be greeted by employees or even a smile
Rooms are dated, try to get room in new building
Biggest beef was the prices which are comparable to western hotels and restaurants. Had seafood BBQ/hotspot on resort and dinner was over $150 CAD for two people
I guess b/c my last trip to china was 10 years ago, I didn't realize how much the cost of living has dramatically increased
Thin walls and cigarette smoking allowed which permeated into our room
Dont buy from in-hotel souvenir shop. Good little clothes/trinkets markets down the beach, near the tour-bus drop-off area.
Just across the street is a huge strip mall with lots of food options but don't think you're saving cash by eating off the property, it's pricey as well. This is applicable to all of Sanya, not just the resort/tourist areas.
If your looking to tour around, ask hotel to arrange private driver. This costs about $45 for the entire day and your driven around in style as oppose to local taxis who will also offer tour expeditions.
