The Sunway is an airport hotel with no remarkable features other than negative ones.
I found the rooms clean but worn; ultimately the hotel was a means to an end close the Shenzhen airport.

The room I stayed in had exposed wires behind the bed which I would not have known were there had it not been for my typical bed bug pre-check.

Basic 2-3star accommodation, do it for the one night as needed.

I only booked this hotel because of its proximity to the airport for our flight to Guilin the following morning. We paid RMB348 a night with buffet breakfast for 2 for a standard double room. Here's what we got for our money:
Room: small; stinks; carpet is stained and dirty; bath tub is moldy and yes! the beds are hard but tolerable. Plus factor: room has hot and cold filtered water dispenser - free and unlimited!
Service/Amenities: Did not bother to try these as we stayed there only 1 day. As expected, the staff at the reception hardly speaks any english so encountered quite a delay in communicating with them. Plus factor: The hotel provides a free shuttle to/from airport and Shekou terminal every 30 minutes but the van is in a sorry state (shabby, filthy, no A/C so windows were open and we can smell the fumes) and driver is reckless.
Food: Tried the dinner buffet (RMB68 per head) at the hotel's cafe. Ok, purely chinese but when I later found out that they have room service and prices were reasonable and offered variety, I regretted having the buffet. There's also a japanese restaurant for those fancying food other than chinese. Found the buffet breakfast basic but beneficial for those, like us, who have mid-morning flight to catch.

an average chinese business hotel. mostly chinese food with some poor attemts at western. free broadband in rooms which are clean and tidy. walking distance to the airport and short taxi ride to the ferry to hongkong
