“Really not up to the standard”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

I had an extremelly bad experience overall in the Ramkada Plaza Hotel in Fuzhou. I had stayed a few days earlier in the Ramada Plaza at Shenzhou and it was quite good but at Fuzhou things are really bad. The hotel needs an urgent renovation of the rooms and the common areas but what really made my stay really uncomfortable was the lack of heating in the rooms.

With a stay in early December on a cold week my room was totally frozen both nights. On the second night they confirmed to me the air conditioning system did not include hot air and they brought a heater. A really small one that did nothing for my room.

The hotel would not even be considered a 3 star hotel in Europe and really needs to change seriously things.

“Not RaRa Ramada”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2011

Check-in was average, and the room was average also. The toilet was cramped, and the shower curtains for the bathtub needed to be changed now, or last year. The tv channels fortunately included cnn, channel v and hbo, but not much else. Upon check-out, I wanted to apply for the wyndham card and gave them my business card with the application form. They said I have to manually fill in the form although all the information is on the card. I reluctantly did although I don't see the logic. When I finished, they asked for my business card still. I attribute this silliness to lack of training and pure laziness

“Ok, but not more”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2010

Just stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in the middle of December 2010. After cleared out some misunderstanding in the beginning which was handled very professional by the staff our stay in Fuzhou quite nice.

It's far from a new hotel which you really can see. The carpet feels to so dirty I was afraid it would eat anything I'll put there. The shower cabin is rather small but it do it's job. I must say we never ran out of toilet products - never I have seen so many products in a hotel room.

The bed is a bit more hard than I have experienced in China - it's not too hard but just a bit more hard than normal.

Another reviewer reported problems with the heating. They must have turned it on or fixed something, we never had problems with heating.

The staff are all very friendly and helpful and beside the dirty carpet I felt everything nice and clean.

I'm so glad my stay was for vacation and not business. They deliver cabled (no wi-fi available) Internet access and claim it's at least 10 MBit/s. Don't know if it's true but the quality of line is bad, most times I had packet drop of about 10% to European sites.

Agree with most, that it's more 3 star than 5 star hotel.

Would I stay at this hotel on next visit in Fuzhou: Likely but mostly because I feel it's some of the best in Fuzhou city.

“Why no heating in the winter?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2010

I have been noticing that it is always cold in China hotels, expecially in the south, during the winter. Whether the outside temperature is under 10 degrees Celsius or not has no importance. "The heating is not working ;very sorry" - No other explanation or reason.
I checked in on 28th Jan 2010, arriving late with a client from Shanghai. I was given a damp room, that smelled like an ashtray on the northern side. I woke up trembling and frozen at 2.00 am and discovered the heating was just cold air coming into the room. I made a scandal on the phone to reception, got no explanation as to why there was no heating, was told "sorry, the hotek is full" and was relocated to a junior suite on the excecutive floor. There is also no heating in this room although it is nicer, dryer and does not smell of tobacco. I will however be asking reception why there is no heating in this supposingly 5 star hotel.
