At around 1000RMB per night, it is difficult to complain about what we received at this hotel. It is not at the same level as some of the other Shangri-La hotels, but all in all we had reasonable service, clean rooms and a pleasant enough stay.
We stayed three nights on this trip and, contrary to some of the other contributors, we found that the hotel restaurants were at best mediocre. In general I got the impression that they are catering to locals and the selection was not what we expected. Arriving late on the first night we decided to eat at the buffet which was probably a mistake - possibly we have been spoiled by the spread at some of the other Shangri-La hotels and this one did not compare, although I must admit the price was very reasonable. Breakfast was also a little dissapointing - they need to step this up.
The rooms were quite old - although clean and reasonably spacious, they have seen far better days. Apparently there are some newer rooms, and next time we will upgrade to Horizon club rooms in the hope that this is better.
In Fuzhou there are not a lot of alternatives, so this is probably the best that you can do.
Room Tip: Possibly the horizon club rooms are better than the regular rooms
