I stayed at this hotel for one night and most of two days in March. We arrived early and most of our group were able to get rooms immediately but a couple of us had to wait in a very comfortable lounge having an expensive cup of tea. The room on the 10th floor was very comfortable looking out over a european style park that had been affected by the drought. Fountain pools were empty and the grass was brown. Not the hotel's fault and if they had rain would be a very pleasant outlook. Very comfortable room, good bed, pillows etc. Bathroom has both a tub and a shower. Good range of programmes on TV.
Buffet lunch combines seafood, salads, Chinese dishes, a hotpot choice and a barbecue service in which you can choose food to be grilled or skewers of well cooked lamb, beef, pork etc are brought to you at the table. Tasty and enjoyable. Deserts are OK with icecream available in the freezer. Very busy mainly with Chinese residents and possibly others coming in for lunch. I made the mistake of ordering a Brazilian coffee for which I was billed about $14 and the cream on the coffee was cold not frothed. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide range of choices of fruits, cereals, breads, danish pastries and a good range of Chinese dishes. Eggs cooked on order.
Check in and check out was quite efficient with enthusiastic young women who spoke good English.
So good value for good service.

Stayed two nights at this hotel whilst visiting Hefei on business. The hotel was excellent value for money, and the Exectuive Suite I booked was very spacious with two bathrooms! I had a meal in the hotel's Brazilian Restaurant which was nice, but more Chinese than Brazilian! I happily recommend this hotel and will use it again on future visits.

I was in Hefei, Anhui for a conference and my wife joined me. We stayed at Sofitel at the recommendation of the local confernce organizers. Apparently it had only been opened 2 months earlier, and we could tell. Everything is new and clean and modern. This hotel will not give you the sense of being in China if you are looking to be immersed in Chinese culture (but then why would you be in Hefei?) but it will make you stay comfortable.

Rooms are spacious and clean and the beds are soft (a rare find in China). The tap water is not potable but we were provided with 2 complimentary bottles of water everyday. The wall sockets are universal so just about any type of plug can be used (115V, 220V, whatever). There is also free, wireless internet in all rooms (and free interenet access at the business center for those without a laptop). The staff at the reception desk and bellhops all spoke english very well and were most helpful if you needed to take a cab somewhere. The included breakfasts were average but had a nice selection of European/American/Chinese breakfast dishes.

Just about the only downside to the hotel was you had to pay to use the pool.

I would not recommend Hefei as a prime destination in China, but if you do find yourself needing a place to stay in Hefei, than Sofitel is the only place to be.
