“Great place to stay for a longer term”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2011

Arrived late January staying for a few weeks. A great place, apartment is big enough, all kitchen utensils supplied. Staff are very nice, friendly and efficient, very good service. Metro and supermarket a hop away as well as restaurants and cafe's. Don't miss going to Don Carlos and Le Bistro for a great meal. The pool on the 17th floor is perfect at this time of year. The weather in Santiago is very pleasant , very low humidity. Lots of options for getting around for sightseeing. Would definitely stay here again.

“Would not stay here again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2010

The hotel is in a resential neighbourhood. On the plus side this means that there are lots of restaurants and a supermarket and metro station close by. On the negative it is quite a way away from the centre of town (around 20-30 mins on the metro) and so a taxi to / from the bus station is around USD16 and to / from the airport around USD40-45.

Breakfast is served only in your room as there is no restaurant on site. Breakfast is not really what I'd expected - eg cold frittata, half a baguette, and a small portion of fresh fruit salad. You have to specfiy the time you want it served the day before. On Sunday morning the earliest you can request breakfast is 9am (and then didn't arrive until 930am).

Overall I didn't find the staff to be very helpful or knowledgeable. Eg I asked a staff member how much the metro was and they both advised me it was around 5,000Pesos (USD10) per trip, which was so high I thought it couldn't possibly be right so asked another one and got the same answer (the metro is in fact 360-400 Pesos depending on the time of the day you travel).

Be warned if you are considering staying in the hotel on a Saturday night. There is a pub near the hotel which had a live band on (outside). The noise in my room was deafening. At 1230am I rang the reception and asked how late the music was going to go on for and they advised another 2 hours. I asked to be moved to a quieter room as there was no possibility of sleeping with the music. I was told it was not the hotel's fault the pub was having a party, that I could move to another room, however, the only one available was one which had been vacated by someone that afternoon and so had not been cleaned after the last guest's departure and would be an additional USD20 as it was a better room. Needless to stay I stayed in the existing room. The music eventually stopped around 245am.

I would not recommend this hotel, the negatives outweigh the positives.

i liked very much staying at la sebastiana.
it is a very nice small hotel, very well furnished, prices ok.
only negative point, the parties that tha hotel allows some guests to do in the apartments, which can be noisy in the week-end.

Stayed November 2006, travelled with family

“Good hotel, convenient location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2009

We stayed here for three nights at the start of our trip to Chile and got the Tur minibus from the airport (fine and cheaper than a taxi). We had to wait until 2.00 to check in but the hotel looked after our luggeage for a couple of hours whilst we had a look around. Although we had booked a studio in advance through Greenbee, we were upgraded to a comfortable apartment with a separate bedroom and living area which included a dining table, comfy seats and a kitchen well equipped with pots, pans, an oven and hotplate and a kettle. The bedroom and bathroom were a little on the small size but perfectly adequate and the living area was fine. The hotel was generally clean, as were the towels although these could have been a little whiter. The location is very good: safe and convenient (3 mins) for the Tobalaba stop on the metro - 15 mins into town. it's also handy for cafes and restaurants, including Akarana and the branch of Bar Liguria near the metro - both recommended. Breakfast, brought in from nearby Cafe Melba, also recommended, was delivered to the room. Oddly, they only supply one breakfast on the room rate but we just about managed with one between us. It was good quality and consisted of juice, fresh fruit, bread, ham/cheese, jam and a pastry plus hot water and instant coffee or tea. There is some traffic noise from the main roads nearby but it wasn't too bad. Staff were helpful and there were internet conections in the rooms and three pcs in the lobby for guest use. Overall, a convenient mid-range choice for Santiago.

“good option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2009

a very good location, and a good cost/benefit.
positive: the location and the price; very good bed
negative: the price at the website doesn’t include breakfast for two, just for one guest, and this is not said when you book it; besides, the breakfast is served at the room, you have to inform the time you want it one day before, and it isn’t great at all
