Its a fantastic hostel with everything you need. It is walking distance to markets, the bank and pub street! Mark is very welcoming and helpful while Danny can signpost you on your nights out! I ended up extending my stay twice which is always a good sign. I would reccommend to anyone traveling alone or otherwise to stay here, Its a real nice hostel. Oh yeah beer is half price during happy hour! ;)

Safe travels, John.

“Great hostel, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed at downtown for 4 days and it was a great hostel. It has everything you need, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, 24 hour security, beer on tap at the friendly bar in the garden and very good food. One of the best steaks i have had in my time travelling!

“I just couldn't leave!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I was planning on staying here 2 nights and ended up being "stuck" for 8 days. I had a great time at this hostel and met wonderful people. I was there during New Years and Mark and his staff organised a wonderful dinner. He even arranged a steak for me when I had forgotten to sign up for the dinner.

The rooms are cheap, clean and have a nice balcony for smoking, sitting down with a drink or just relaxing.
The hostel is a 5min walk from the center and Mark and his staff gave me some good suggestions for cheap local food.

If i ever come back to Siem Reap, i'll come back to this hostel. No doubt about it!

“So nice and chill, we stayed 8 days! Good bargain.”

After reading the glowing reviews on here, we decided to leave our $12 a night room for a $10 one here. The prices fluctuate with the number of tourists in town or holidays, so you may see $8 - $15 for a private room. That $10 got us a nice room on the top floor called "paradise", and it certainly felt like it after long, hot days cycling to and from Angkor Wat. AC, Western TV, 2 full sized beds with great mattresses, hot shower, and a closet were included in that price. Our room faced a large, covered patio that was really nice for sipping drinks with a book to get out of the heat. Our room was always quiet, as the staff are very good about making sure the noise from the bar in the front yard stops promptly at 11:00. Speaking of the staff, Mark and his crew were second to none when it comes to great service: making sure we had a room (not too easy!), keeping us in said room as we kept piling days on to our initial stay, keeping our $10 price grandfathered in as prices rose for Christmas, helping arrange tours, pouring a pint or three of Angkor, cooking us great breakfasts...you name it and they probably did it, and always without complaint. The location is a nice 5 minute walk to Pub Street, meaning the loudest thing you'll here at night are usually the barking dogs roaming the streets. Staying at the Downtown also gets you access to any of the Golden Banana Resort's five (!) pools next door for just the price of a drink or nosh. Chelle's biggest complaint is the fact you can find hotels with pools on-site and a refrigerator in the room for about $12. It's true, but the extra level of service you get here is something you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere else. Highly recommended.

“Great place, Great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Great place to stay in Siem Reap, great location, good price for rooms and food! Great breakfasts and the staff are absolutely great. The owner Mark is English and really helps you out with information and general advice. Private rooms are cheap, dorms even cheaper and just as good. Me and 3 friends turned up having already booked into another place, but after having a breakfast and a look at the rooms and prices at Downtown Siem Reap we immediately changed to this place! Good little balcony on the second floor too if you want to smoke and drink and there is a free pool table at the bar downstairs.
