“Clean and forgetable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2008

Staff is not unfriendly; they sleep in the lobby so there's always someone around to check you in/out. Room was clean and a/c worked fine.

They add the "breakfast package" (approx. $5/night) without asking me. Ásk not to have that extra. If you're planning on visiting Angkor you'll probably leave early, before breakfast is served. Plus the quality is so-so and lacking in variety. Plenty of places in town offer much more appealing options for less.

They advertise internet but the computers in lobby were so slow I couldn't even load a webpage. Tons of cheap internet cafes in town. Also, a bit of a walk from town. When the river floods it can make the walk home/away a wet one.

“always overprice everything”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2008

A friend and I stayed there for three nights out of our originally planned four. We finally decided to move out for the fourth night. We found that the reception staff, especially the woman, over charges nearly everything, from trip to the floating village to bus ticket to else where. And she got irrateted when we found and told her that we found the actual prices were much less.

Real Example from our stay:
1. room rates are different for different people. e.g. we stayed at a USD15 room, she charged another USD20;

2. trip to the floating village costs much less if you just book your own Tuk Tuk or car, then buy the boat ticket at the make. She charges you USD25 per person.

3. Bus tickets to Ho Chi Minh city of Vietnam are sold for USD22 or USD23 at the street boothes and other hostels. The lady asked for USD28 and got very impatient and irrated when we pointed the fact out.

Basically, yeah, if you can just keep blind to the real prices behind their quotes, it's a nice place to stay.

“Ok for a budget guesthouse”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2008

We stayed at this guesthouse early December 2007. Our experience was OK. since we didn't expect a high class service for the price that we paid. The staff was OK. some wasn't helpful and unfriendly, but that's OK. We had American breakfast there it wasn't what we expected, however, it was something new to try and the price was considered reasonable compare to the other shops in Siem Reap. We had lunch at the local shop in front of Bantoey Sri, it was awful and expensive which we didn't expect that it could be that expensive in a local shop.

The room we stayed was a fan room, it was very noisy from the people living near the guesthouse which they woke us up early morning and the bathroom was leaking from the bathroom up stair.

If we visit Siem Reap again we probably not stay at this place unless they fixed the bathroom and serve normal American breakfast.

“Riverside Guesthouse”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2006

We stayed at the Siem Reap Riverside guesthouse (not Angkor Riverside or Riverside Hotel) which we booked via internet, thought that it was a good place to stay, we were mistaken, also mistaken by the similarities of the name. The lady boss at the place has a terrible attitude which rubbed on the staffs as well. None of the staff knew anything, every move, has to get an ok from boss, like, changing to another room, to getting another pillow!!! And this place is further from the city center than any other. They charged 1US/min for making a local call where others give for free!!! Avoid this place at all cost.
