“Bed BUGS!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2010

I stayed here for two days. The first night was good, it was very comfortable. However, the second night was really hot. I couldn't sleep, so I turned the lights on. I found bugs all over my clothes, which were on the bed. It was easy to spot the bed bugs since the bed sheets and pillow covers were white.

I did kill some of them and they were full of blood. I had no idea what these bugs were until I asked my mother. She was familiar of these bugs since she was born and raised in Cambodia. Suddenly, more and more of the bed bugs came out from no where. My mother and I wanted to go downstairs to exchange for a different room, but it was close to midnight and no one was downstairs and the lobby.

I ended up staying in my aunt's room because I couldn't sleep at the thought of having bed bugs suck my blood in the middle of the night.

“Will stay here again!”

We were around 30 people staying here on a twin sharing basis as part of a photography workshop. The location of this place is great just a 2 min walk from pub street. The rooms are basic but they are cleaned everyday. You have to pay extra for every service you use like AC or hot water or refrigerator. It gets expensive if you want to use all the services if not then it's a good budget option.

“Great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2007

location is great, less than 5minutes walk to pub area and old market, and a few more for central market. note: pub area: where restos are as well as, well pubs. no in-house cafe or resto, but as the previous reviewersaid, eateries are near the hotel; there's also a small supermarket near it which is about 2-3minutes walk, unless you're a turtle

Rooms were clean, not sparkling clean, but very clean indeed. I think all rooms come with a/c and private bath with hot water, although i'm not certain with this as it was what i requested in the first place -- for US$15, awesome deal! and much to my delight, i didn't find any bugs, insects, mosquitoes in my room. the bed linens were ok as well as the towels. they have a laundry service as well, although i wasn't able to ask how much.

They can help book for mekong express bus and a cruise, I forgot which one exactly, but I presume to tonle sap lake and to phnom penh. I just did the bus [to ho chi minh], which turned out great since mekong express picked me up at the guesthouse [GH], so i didnt have to shed another penny and go through the hassle of going to the bus station!

Staff is ok, not great, but I don't need them to be great anyway, didn't ask much from them except for the ticketing service.
Arranged tuktuk pick-up for me at the airport for $3. GH gets something like 'commission' from tuktuk drivers for $3 a day when they introduce guests to the drivers. So basically airport pick-up was free on the part of the tuktuk driver. I suppose most tuktuk drivers in SR are quite ok as I haven't really heard bad something about them. That, or I haven't come across with a review that says so. Anyway, in case anyone is interested, mine was NAK and his number is [-].

btw, no internet connection at the guesthouse but it's close to several internet cafe's. close meaning less than 1minute walk, unless again if you're a turtle.

they accept payment by credit card, which i think is great. plus they give receipts without you asking them for it -- for those who think this is impt

Each of us does not have the same needs and wants for guesthouses, for me the most important ones are A/C, private bath with hot water, cleanliness, location and safety and I got these plus more.. [room is equipped with cable tv, fan, phone, fridge, wardrobe cabinet as well]

Overall, I would definitely stay in SUN SENGKY's guesthouse again.

“Sengky Guesthouse - Excellent Value & Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2007

My husband and I stayed here in Feb. I would say it's excellent value for money - USD15 nett per room per night, comes complete with air-con & fan, mini-fridge, small cupboard with hangers, attached bathroom with hot shower, towels, soap, toilet paper, and even rubber slippers.

The owner Sengky, is very sincere and professional. He picked us up from the airport (no extra charge even though he had to pay for parking at the airport) and during the journey , gave us a good commentary of Cambodia today as compared to Pol Pot's time.

He and his team of staff are very diligent, very focused on customer service and we got our requests and questions met and answered very quickly.

Sengky arranged a very good and honest tuk-tuk driver for us, who ended up as our guide during our 5 days in Siem Reap. Ask for Ken, he's really a trustworthy fellow. Speaks English fairly well by Cambodian standards. What he lacks in English, he makes up for in his kind gestures and how he's always looking out for us.

The guesthouse location is great, with just 5 minutes' walk to the Pub Street area, which comes alive at nights with its restaurants, pubs, ice cream shops, pharmacies and open-air street vendors.

“Great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2006

I stayed in Sun Sengky Guesthouse in April during my vist to Siem Reap and really enjoyed my time there. It is a family run guesthouse in the middle of town within a stones throw of restaurants and shops. The owner - Sengky - has quite good English and picked us up from the bus. He and his family are friendly and always willing to give advice.

The rooms are of a good standard - with comfortable beds, ensuite bathroom, tv, minibar and a/c. And for $8 each per night - I thought it was a great bargain! You don't get breakfast there, but there are so many good restaurants on your doorstep, it doesn't really matter. Our favourite was Forest Hut - just a few doors down from the guesthouse!

They also have laundry facilities!

I'd really recommend it!
