“Pictures are deceiving.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Don't take the pictures as is because the place I visited is a far cry from the images featured in Agoda. I was informed by the locals that the place was bustling with life way, way back. But due to a change in management, Damnak Angkor Resort and Spa is just a shadow of a once hip place.

The concierge is not always open. Not all the lamps, inside your room and outside, can be turned on. The water in the pool is green even though the tiles are not. Not all staff understands English and they won't even bother to find someone that does.

If you don't mind self-service, dust under your bed, stained toilets and monotonous breakfast, then book this hotel. And just in case you realize that it is better to shell out a little extra to get quality food, do take the offered breakfast so you could feed the fish in the pond. Oh and there are only two breakfast options- Continental and American. And the toast is not always toasted.

Room Tip: Book a different hotel. If you really want to try this hotel, book rooms not too near the entrance a...

“Tired , dark hotel.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2009

We booked this hotel on line prior to arriving in Siem Reap. We had 2 room with balconys.

The hotel is located quite away from the center of town. We recognized right away that we would not be happy with the location for a weeks stay.

The rooms were dark and dreary. Bathroom was very dated complete with mold. The street outside the hotel is under construction therefor you're in the middle of a huge dust bowl. The hotel told us prior to our arrival that they would be at the boat arrival from P.P with a sign with our name on it. Unfortunately, they were late and we were being so accosted by the tuc tuc drivers and the locals that we took our own transportation.

When we advised the hotel that we would only be staying one night and not seven they offered to move us to a "better" room. The place was deserted. We happily left first thing in the a.m.

“Friendly and personal ...”

Siem Reap has a plethora of big four and five star impersonal hotels, but this three star hotel is much more individual and we had a lovely three day stay here. The hotel complex has forty five rooms in traditional style buildings arranged around tropical gardens, Cambodian artifacts and a very nice salt water swimming pool, which is well supplied with pool towels and has a small bar. Our room was spacious and the room comfortable (although you had to wait a short while for the air conditioning to make an impact). It is located on the edge of town on the Airport Road, but it is easy to get into town by Tuk Tuk, which the staff will happily order for you. The staff were all charming and nothing was too much trouble.

  • Liked — Spacious room, good pool and good service
  • Disliked — Could have had a shower curtain on bath.
