We recently stayed at the New Angkorland Hotel and enjoyed the hotel. Staff were very friendly and obliging. The hotel is situated one street back from the main road and about 1 km from the old town and markets, but this is a good thing, as it is very quiet. It is still very easy to get in to the central markets by Tuk tuk, and only takes a couple of minutes. Rooms were large and the bedding very comfortable. We had 3 rooms for our group, and 2 of them had excellent bathroom facilities (hot water when required, good shower heads and great water pressure). However, the 3rd room had intermittent hot water available for showers, and the attempts to fix the hot water service were not overly successful. The breakfast buffet was adequate, but was inundated by tour groups from around 7.30 am, with dishes not being replenished quickly enough for those who were not required to be out the door by 8am. The selection became very limited after this time. Very curious that there is no lift access to the breakfast restaurant and guests have to walk up a flight of stairs from the 4th floor to get there. This was rather difficult for one of the older members of our group who was having difficulty climbing stairs, but necessary in order to get breakfast.
The spa facilities were rather dated and the towels used to cover the massage beds smelt rather musty. However, the massage itself was good. Certainly, if you are staying in the hotel it is very convenient having the facilities available if you don't want to make the effort to go elsewhere.
The hotel has a pool, which is most refreshing. A few tiles missing in places, but on the whole well maintained and most pleasant after a day exploring the sights. The bar, which is located close to the pool area was quiet, the staff very pleasant and attentive and the cocktails excellent and well presented. Not the cheapest in Siem Reap, but again, convenient if you don't want to venture out.
Overall, a pleasant place to stay and one I would be happy to book again should I return to Siem Reap.
