“Excellent hotel in a great city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We arrived at the hotel after cycling all the way from Ho Chi Minh. My first impression wasn't great as there was a large gig playing extremely loud music to the right of the hotel. My room overlooked the space so my tired legs had to put up with the booming bass coming through the windows. Luckily for us this only happened on the first of our 4 night stay in Siem Reap. The hotel itself was excellent. Very clean and the staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was good and plentiful, and any issues we had were dealt with promptly. We loved the rooftop swimming pool and spent most evenings in it! The room itself was large, clean and well appointed. Location wise we couldn't have asked for more, with us being just a 5 minute walk away from the old town and pub street.

Definitely recommended!

“Great value, location and pool.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Rooms were clean and spacious, staff at the front desk were helpful, breakfast buffet was tastey and the rooftop pool at the end of a hot day of temple trekking was divine. Short walk into the central part of town or out to the FCC.

“Great stay at the City River”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed here for 8 nights from 9 - 17th Jan 2012 in a triple room, we booked a package where we got free transfers to and from the airport, free breakfast every morning, a free massage and a free meal in the restaurant. As soon as we walked into reception I knew we had made the right choice, the staff were just wonderful, efficient, friendly and always willing to help out. The room had a balcony with a king sized bed and a single bed, shower over the bath, TV, air-con and mini fridge. Internet is free, there are two computers next to the lobby and one in the restaurant. Roof top pool and bar is wonderful we had a meal up there and it was lovely to relax up there after a tiring day visiting the incredible temples. A big shout out to Sambath on reception, Rose and her girls in the massage centre, Ponlok and last but not least Sothalay and Haik in the pool bar. These guys are just wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was adequate, buffet with an egg station, toast, cereal, fruit etc and the meal we had in the restaurant was very good, not sure why more people don't utilise it. The reception staff organised a driver for us for 4 of the 8 days and he was great, patiently waiting for us and supplying is with ice cold bottles of water. I would return to Siem Reap in a heartbeat and I can highly recommend this hotel. I do quite a lot of travel and this hotel was one of the cleanest and friendliest I have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask for one of the higher rooms.

“City River + Rooftop = Amazing NYE!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Before I begin, so you can gauge your standards with mine: I'm 29, female, and like to think I'm level-headed/reasonable but will complain when necessary. I had not one complaint to pick about this hotel.

I stayed with 13 others with a Gecko tour from 30.1.11 - 2.1.12. It's located across the river/road from the main part of town and metres from the National Hwy. As soon as you walk in, you can just tell you're going to have a good stay.

Awesome features include:

Rooftop pool maintained really well. It asks ppl to refrain from swimming past a certain hr but ppl jump in anyway. It's because there's a rooftop bar & alcohol and swimming doesn't end well...

Rooftop Bar!!! As we stayed over NYE, we had nowhere to go as the town was packed with what seemed like 14million ppl....ok maybe 5million... We stayed at the rooftop bar until 10pm when the bar was expected to close, HOWEVER remained open for us and other guests until 1am!!! Siem Reap gave us 4x sets of fireworks across 180deg of the horizon and we had the best spot in town with a rooftop balcony so it was unforgettable. Thanks to the bar boys/management who worked very hard and overtime for us.

Buffet breakfast!!! A wide variety of Western-style food like eggs, omellette, sausages, bacon, ham, toast, croissants, cereal, fruit and even pikelets! The Asian -style consisted of noodles, fried rice and others I didn't take much notice of.

The reception staff and bus boys are very attentive, they helped me with directions and teaching me how to say Happy NY and are quick to respond to service needs.
The driveway and entrance is spacious and well maintained.
Air conditioning was great and the bathrooms were really clean.
There is wifi available and 2 computers with free access.

There was an incident where housekeeping took my towel for cleaning and silly me left my "do not disturb" sign on the door the next day. So unneccessariy I worried that it wouldn't get returned in time as I was checking out early the next morning. I advised reception and the housekeeping boy came to my room within 30mins? He was so apologetic and I nearly cried cos it was my fault! He was so geniunely sorry but we came to an understanding that it was my bad because the sign was on my door. The towel smell like a thousand frangapanis.

This establishment has real Siem Reap charm, funtions well and run by people who really want to work there. Comparing this place to a 5 star resort in Phuket I stayed at later, it's actually on par but without the price tag. I would go back tomorrow if I could.

The bed & pillows are hard but that's normal in Asia. it'll do you good to straighen up your back.

Safe travels.

“Great hotel in Siem Reap”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I had a great 2 night stay here. The staff were very helpful in getting everything organised for me - my package included a driver for a day and I ended up extending this for a second day. They also sorted out all my transfers to and from the bus station and airport. I also had a few issues on my first day regarding a microlight flight - they spent a lot of time helping me to try and get hold of the company. Unfortunately my flight was cancelled in the end but this had nothing to do with the hotel. Despite this cancellation they quickly rearranged my other plans so that I wasn't left waiting with nothing to do. Facilities were fine - great to have the pool area (wifi worked fine), breakfast was ok, and only downside was no hot water on the last day, although it was early at 4:30am as I was getting ready to see sunrise at Angkor Wat.

It's also a very quick walk down to the markets and Pub Street.
