Like other reviews, this small guesthouse is charming and quaint. Free pick-up from the Mekong Express Bus Station was greatly appreciated. We enjoyed the location, being off the main drag, as Peace of Angkor is in a more quiet area. We had dinner one night in their restaurant--good selection and good food.
When booking with the guesthouse & Den, we explicitly asked to book photographic tours and made it 100% clear we were photographers. In fact, the only reason we chose to stay at Peace of Angkor was for it's self-advertised unique photographic tours that cater to photographers. Upon check-in, we were asked to pay in full for our upcoming tours. Fine. The first morning, we realized our "Photographic Tour" was nothing more than the standard van-and-tour-guide anyone can book, but we were charged quite high prices for this "photography tour." It wasn't the tourguide's fault--he was quite good and very knowledgeable of the temples. But he said he had never touched a camera in his life!!
Peace of Angkor Villa grossly misrepresented what kind of tour we were getting. At the end of the day, we asked if we could cancel the next day's tour, as it was going to be the same thing--not catering to a photographer one bit. Den let us know we could cancel, but they would not refund our pre-paid money. We were quite frank with him about misrepresenting what kind of tour we would get--the HUGE discrepancy between what we paid for and what we received.
We would have appreciated honesty--perhaps all the photographer-guides were booked or something. But no one gave us an explanation and instead tried to send us out with a complete NON-photographer without saying anything. Providing us with an explanation, a refund and apology would have solved the problem. Instead, no apology, no refund, only feelings of being deceived and taken for our money. Had we known we would not receive a photography-specific tour, we wouldn't have booked here in the first place. The single reason we booked here was for this particular tour which they advertised.
We feel that this problem was completely avoidable and very regrettable. I'm sure many people have actually received great photography tours. I would stay here for the actual property. But as for the photography tours, make sure you actually get what you pay for.

It is regrettable that the guests were not happy with their tour. There was no requests at all in their several email communications that they wanted any special photographic input in the tour .
We always ask in busy periods that Custom photo tours are booked in advance. The guide we allocated them is very experienced and took the guests to the best photographic spots of Angkor and gave his extensive knowledge of Angkor as they so rightly pointed out.
We are not and never have been, photographic training centre; but lead photographers to the best spots at Angkor with regard to the lighting conditions and to avoid the crowds so far as possible . We do offer tours and support to professional , advanced amateur photographers , non photographers and family groups. Our clients have expressed a high degree of satisfaction with our services.
They did not complain to our manager on the first day as they stated; but wanted to do a short day on the morning of the second day. Only then did the mother state they did not get the photo support they were expecting; but stated the guides knowledge was very good.
Our professional staff dealt with the complaint in a fair and reasonable way giving both an apology and a partial refund before they commenced the tour on the second morning .
To say that we had deliberately deceived the guests and grossly misrepresented our tours is unreasonable and to say we did not offer a refund and apology is totally untrue.
