“A wonderful stay”

We had booked a room at Antanue Villas in September for Christmas and I was very much looking forward to this stay. I was not disapointed. Yes, the pressure in the shower is sometimes low, but eh, at least we had water....but the room was clean, the location is excellent (10 minutes walk to Pub Street and night market), the employees are extremely friendly, although with a sometimes limited English, but they were trying so hard ! The breakfast was amazing, fresh bread, eggs, fresh juice, fresh fruits, coffee, etc... We loved the pool and the quiete garden. Would definitely go again.

Room Tip: Superior with balcony overlooking the pool would be my favourite, or cabanas.

“Delightful 7 night Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We were at the Atanue from Nov.14-21 and felt it provided excellent value for the price. Even though we booked directly through the Villa, even in August we could not get a Cabana Room for our whole stay.
We had a standard room in the main building for 4 nights and then transferred to a Cabana room the last 3 nights. If possible, it is definitely worth the extra $10/night for the Cabana room at the pool. We found it more spacious, decorated better and the bathroom had a tub!

I don't know what is wrong with the plumbing, but as a previous poster said, there WAS an odor in the bathroom in the standard. room. It wasn't obvious to us until we took the fresheners out of the bathroom. there were 2. We do not like that stuff. But please understandd, we were galavanting around for weeks with respiratory infections and stuffed noses. More on that in my trip report to follow. The bathroom in the Cabana room was fine!

We were picked up by the hotel on arrival. We did receive 2 bottles of water /day and DH and I received a free 30 min. massage each. Our breakfasts were cooked to order and delicious and the staff was friendly, receptive and full of smiles. Upon returning from an outing, there were always cool towels to greet us and fresh hot tea.

Our first day or two, when we walked down the street and then across the river, we were turned off by much noisy traffic and a really dusty street. When I asked about the street situation and was told it was in disrepair because of the recent flooding, it all made sense and we understood.

Due to our 7 night booking, we only paid for 5 nights. That came to $31.50/night! Hard to beat for what we received. By the way, the A/C worked beautifully.

We would stay here again in a heartbeat and being on the other side of the river suited us to a T.

Room Tip: A Cabana Room is definitely worth te difference in price.

“Worth every penny!”

I was here for a 4d3n stay with my husband. i had informed the staff earlier that we were newlyweds. Antanue gave a lil token of surprise by decorating the room like a honeymoon suite! they also provide us a bottle of sparkling juice to indulge. Service here is always served with a smile. It is also a quite place as the location is about 15 mins walking distance from the old market area. The hotel has a great pool equip with cabanas around it. Our room was cosy and comfortable to stay in. We would recommend travelers to stay here especially after a long day visiting the temples in angkor watt. Overall we had a good and pleasant time staying in Antanue.

Room Tip: Get the rooms by the pool side. The location is peaceful enough.

“Not as nice as it looks”

Seems that many of the good reviews for this place are from people who stayed at much worse hotels during their trip.
I have stayed at 4 hotels in Siem Reap in 2011, all almost exactly the same price (within $5/night). This was by far the worst!

Main Points: worst bed, worst shower, only 1 small bottle of water, tiny tv, horrible smell in bathroom

The staff are very good, but that is true of nearly all small/medium hotels here.
The management/owners are not good though.

The problems were many. Although they do many little things to make the place attractive, they seem to be only small cosmetic things. My first night I was in a cabana room where the bathroom had a horrible smell coming from the pipes. The management's 'fix' was to keep the fan on. I informed them that the situation in very unhealthy, not just uncomfortable, but they continued with their 'cure.'
So, I moved to a cheaper room, but at the same price. Found a very depressing bathroom, again some cosmetic prettiness, but that could not cover up the stains, old shower over bath, with a 'shower' that was no more than 140cm from the ground, with only a little warm water. When done with this unsatisfying shower I was greeted with a towel that was so old and worn it was like an old oil rag. The next day I was given a passable towel, so they do have some ok ones.

They offer one small water bottle per day, when all hotels in SR seem to offer two normal sized bottles. Why? An ancient Chinese TV, about 10cm in diameter?! And, the bed was awful! Hard, with old rough sheets. YEs, it looks pretty, and maybe if you are exhausted from running around temples etc all day you might sleep ok, but this was not acceptable by SR standards.

Sorry, it is very, very easy to do so much better than this place. I regret not going back to one of the others I stayed at before (wanted to try a hotel on this side of town).
They do have potential, but unless the management/owners become much less greedy and start to care for the comfort of their guests, instead of trying to patch things up with quick and easy fixes, this will be a place to avoid.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

We are staying here at the moment and will hate to leave, the staff are great, the breakfast is good and the rooms and pool are a comfortable haven after a long day at the sights. Its walking distance to pub street and the night markets. The Kabana rooms are great and you just have to walk out your front door and into the pool. When we arrive home within minutes someone appears with cold washers and a cold tea just simple little touches that make it special. We will deffinatetly stay here again and highly recomend it.and have loved our 4 days in Siem Reap cambodia.
