We stayed at this hotel while visiting the car show at the AC Convention Center. Not wanting to spend a fortune on a room just for sleeping on a weekend, we knew we would have to stay further away. Based on other reviews, we selected the HJ and were happy with the choice. At approx. $40 per night, the price was right. We had a queen bed in a non-smoking room. The room was not smokey at all and was very clean, no dust, hairs, mildew or bugs. The bathroom was spotless. Public areas were also clean and not smokey. The mattress was a pillow top and was comfortable and clean. However, they use flat sheets on the bottom and because the mattress was so thick, it did not tuck in properly and came undone during the night. The bed had a blanket, the comforter was a little threadbare but it was clean and warm. Four good pillows. We were on the third floor in front facing the road. It was not as noisy as I though it would be, we could only hear the really big trucks. A room further back might be better. The drapes did a good job of keeping the artificial light out from the sign in front. The plus side of this location was that we parked in front and could see our car from the room. Covered parking is available on the back and sides of the building. Parking is well lit and was well cleared after a recent snowstorm. The internet connection was good but a little slow. There was a coffee pot in the room which we did not use. The room had a fridge and a microwave that we did not use. We unplugged the fridge so we did not hear it run all night. There was plenty of hot water at good pressure. The heater worked really well. The TV was clear and had plenty of channels. At one time, there appeared to be a leak above the front window, there were waterstains on the window frame and on the curtain but everything was dry. You can hear a signigicant amount of hallway noise and there was a housekeeping closet right next to us so we could hear the girls out there in the morning. The plus is that this hotel has interior hallways which we prefer. We were too late for breakfast but the area appeared clean and bright. There is a Denny's two doors down and though it is walking distance, there are no sidewalks and heavy traffic. I reccommend going out the back of the parking lot and behind the buildings to the back of the Ramada which connects to Denny's parking lot. This hotel is on a divided road with two lanes on each side. It is hard to make left turns and returning from AC requires going past and making a U-turn. It is a little awkward but there is a lot in the area including restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, convenience stores and it apears to be safe. It was a 15 minute ride to the convention center. We decided to leave early as we had seen everything we came to see and did not stay the second night. Their policy requires a 48 hour cancellation and we knew that in advance from the HoJo's website. Therefore we did not get a refund but the room was cheap enough that we were willing to sacrifice it. The staff was friendly and helpful. This place is definitely not the Ritz but we found it to be clean, safe and convenient. It was a good value for the money.
