“Good, basic accommodation, excellent game viewing”

The rooms at the Lodge were very basic with tiled floor in the bedroom, an airconditioning that made a lot of noise and a bathroom with mould on the grouting. Not 4 star standard. The buffet is plenty and with great variety. Really enjoyed the live cooking station and the braai section.
The activities organised by the Lodge are fantastic. Chobe Park is only a few minutes away from the Lodge. We had amazing game viewing. The rangers keep in contact with other vehicles and they inform eachother of sightings. We saw a pack of African Wild Dogs kill impalas and we managed to see leopard TWICE. Best game viewing ever!

“Camped on edge of beautiful lodge and gorgeous Chobe River”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We were able to enjoy the perks of a great lodge without paying full price by camping in their private campgrounds. While the campsites are right on top of each other, they are still fairly wild feeling. Our site was on the edge of the property and on our last night there I woke up to the sound of an elephant munching on trees just feet away from our rig - I climbed down off the jeep and had a close encounter (but safe) with an incredible bull elephant. Just amazing. The bathroom/showers are clean and work well. The lodge has a great pool and outside bar area that you can spend time hanging out.

I would recommend the river safari -- the most animals I've ever seen in 2 hours -- along the Chobe River. We even saw a family of elephants cross the river in front of us. Thumbs down for the morning drive safari into Chobe -- cold and not a lot of animals, although we did see a lion sitting over his freshly killed giraffe. Not something you see every day!

Room Tip: Get a campsite on the edge of the campground if you can.

“Nice location”

We stayed for 3 nights in January. Overall the experiences we had were pretty good...the game and river excursions were very good. Hotel itself has a very nice main area and good food on the buffet. Rooms were nice but a bit dated..however, considering where you are they were just fine for us. Two issues that I had were that we have a teenage daughter that the some of the workers made very uncomfortable with there blatant staring while she was in the pool...it was bad. The other issue is that about 20 minutes after we had left our driver gets an urgent call saying we need to return to the hotel right away...no reason at first given. Eventually we had to go back only to find out that they had forgot to charge us for some transport. The issue that I have is that they thought it was necessary to take an hour out of our time for their mistake...instead of just asking me over the phone (or by email) if it was OK to charge the extra amount. Just not the way a proper serviced hotel should have handled the situation. Again, service is just OK, but location and experiences are great.

“Great experience overall”

We spent a couple of nights at chobe safari lodge as part of a bigger trip. The game drives were fantastic and the boat game viewing is highly recommended. The location was brilliant, directly on the river with stunning sunset views. Staff has been very nice and helpful. The only thing that could have been better was the quality of the food. However, i would highly recoomend this place if you are looking for a great safari.

“A good place to stop on route or, if you want a taste of safari without needing your own vehicle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

A short stay at the lodge was a pleasant enough experience, staff are friendly far more so than some of the other guests! Compared against other buffet based lodges I've stayed at the food was fantastic and great value. There are several organised trips both on land and water, the water trips are far more rewarding. Overall, a great place for a couple of nights a longer stay would require your own vehicle.
