I stayed the week of July 9th, and this is not my first time, I have always stayed before. However I found in the most dramatic way the lack of security and responsibility of the staff/owners from the Hotel Los Tajibos. My colleague went out of the room for a walk and around 8:30pm he fell into the pool, and drowned. He was found by their security floating on the pool around 10:50pm, and NO ONE saw anything. They even admitted to the police that they do not have cameras around the pool, and also have no signs indicating the lack of lifeguards. This hotel has families with kids, etc. I could not believe the lack of security and how cavalier they where about the incident. I AM NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN

Dear jttravelerPlano_TX,
First and foremost, thank you very much for your active participation on Trip Advisor and for letting travelers worldwide make informed decisions at the time of choosing their lodging accommodations.
The unfortunate incident that occurred to your colleague is the first one of its kind in 36 years of uninterrupted business, pristine reputation and commitment to guest and employee safety in our hotel; it is unequivocally a day our hotel will lament forever.
In an attempt to find answers to this misfortune is that local authorities commanded a full investigation. The findings revealed a couple of important facts that were made public by the police:
1. The victim was not a guest at our hotel or was never registered into our system
2. The victim did not fall into the pool at 8:30 PM but at 10:40 PM. It is important to point out that we have a sign in the pool area that reads “Swim at your own risk after 9:00 PM”.
3. The victim was under “heavy influence of alcohol”. It is important to note that our sign also indicates that “It is prohibited to enter the pool under the influence of alcohol”.
In addition to our strict swimming pool rules we also count with two certified lifeguards that are on shift between 7AM-9PM.
Los Tajibos Hotel & Convention Center is committed to strict standards of safety and to provide the highest levels of care and comfort to our guests. The owners, Board of Directors and all 350 employees of the hotel regret this dreadful occurrence.
