“1 Month in Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

My family and extended family/friends and I stayed at the Nautical Inn, in shifts, starting 12/26 thru 1/26. There was room for everyone, and we still had privacy. It wasn't fancy but we weren't looking for fancy, just comfortable and laid back. The staff was very welcoming, by the end of our stay I felt that Hovita and Hose were family. Havita answered all of my questions on Garifuna cooking, and responded quickly (as well as Hose) to anything we needed. There isn't anything like waking up to the sound of the ocean or taking a bike ride into Placencia early morning to get fruit, vegetables and whatever caught my fancy. There was a lady who brought by fresh coconut bread/creole bread every day, which we toasted for breakfast. The owners Gail & Roger were very welcoming, my husband and I felt like friends when we left. We even talked them into going out fishing for a very long day and it was simply heaven! It is a hike to the village so a rental car is handy for spur of the moment drives, or just grab a taxi, it is only 3.00. I really recommend taking the Hokey Pokey (a water taxi) to Independence for a day, it was worth 6.00. I would definately recommend this place for families, looking for a laid back pace or just wanting to immerse yourself in the local culture. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will be back in June!!

Room Tip: room # 12 gives you a private deck and you have great views. For that matter all of the rooms are o...

“Loved Nautical Inn Belize”

Had a wonderful experience at the Nautical. The place is so quite and serene. The sun rises and sun sets are breathtaking. Sitting on the dock watching time waste awat makes you wonder if the world is flat - it just goes on and on forever! Great hospitality by everyone. They made us feel like we were part of the family. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. We feel it was great value. Even though we had a kitchenette we let the staff prepare for us a delicious breakfast most days before leaving on our side trips.

Room Tip: If rooms with next to the sea are available it is only 15 steps to the clear water and white beach.

“Ok spot rooms needed attention.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011 via mobile

I stayed at the nautical inn at the end of September. The hotel look nice but the rooms looked like nobody had been in them in a couple of months it should have been a red flag but I had just drove from Belize city and they had a 50% off sign out sides I said what the hay I'll do it . After checking in and a little mix up there with the price we made it to our room. First the a/c units didn't work and the help left for the day so we had to track down the owners which live on site. He came and tried to get them working and couldn't so we had to change rooms. Then we went to the next room and same problem but this time he got the AC to work so owner left . Then I tried to take a shower no hot water what a hassle after traveling all day. The next morning the owner got the water working but it was just a lot of headache considering I paid 100$ u.s for the room. The up side was the hotel was right on the water and I do mean directly on the water.

“The Best Medical Mission Trip EVER!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2010

A group from my school, Baptist College of Health Sciences, stayed for 7 days for a medical mission trip. The resort owners were so welcoming, and so humble. During our stay we had some of the most amazing food. We were able to have a day off from our mission work to have some fun in the sun and they had snorkel gear there that we used to have some under water adventures. The resort is located very close to the towns people and the grocery store is about a 10min walk. You get a chance to see the culture and taste the food. If I had a chance to go back I sure would!!! It's a great place to come back to after a hards day of work on the mission field.

“Ideal beach getaway spot with secure family environment”

Our family of five stayed in their family suite and had a wonderful time. The living room and kitchenette made us feel like we were living large and at night (or any time we needed a quiet moment) we could close the pocket doors into the restroom and get some peace.
Our kids had a wonderful time exploring the courtyard and playing in the pool--even sending off banana palm leaves into the surf, all without my husband or I having to worry that they would range out of sight. The homey atmosphere and the gracious helpfulness of everyone ranked this hotel at the top of our list. If we had wanted to, we could have walked to the nearest restaurant or ridden bicycles into Placencia, but we had a rental car. (Highly suggest taking the water taxi into Placencia and renting something there rather than driving the turnoff to Placencia until the road construction is finished.)
Roger is great, but Gail is an angel in disguise! My neck had gone out and Gail helped arrange for the local Thai masseuse to come to the room to work on my back, and she took the time to visit with my kiddoes and even do crafts with them.
We plan on moving to a different area of Belize, but Gail and Roger's resort will still be our number one vacation pick.
