“Perfect Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2007

My wife and I stayed 9 nights at this resort without any single problem.
A few comments:
1) Katie and all the hotel staff members: friendly, anything you need just # 9 and Katie will take care of what you need in less tha 1/2 an hour.
2) We were at beach front Villa # 4, great: 2 suite bedrooms, large living room with and kitchen. The price was 700 USD + 25% (taxes and tips), not cheap but great value for money.
3) Golf course (18 Hole): Perfect condition, very difficult, you will find water in almost all the holes, windy, etc. My handicap is 6.2 and sometimes I founded the golf course very difficult. Almost a troop take care of the golf course and probably they will be the only people that you will see during your round. Of course, no tee time is necessary, you are playing in an almost private golf course. Be aware of the amount of golf balls that you will lost, but no problem ask Katie and she will give you a set of 12 balls at the price of USD12.
4) Food: We had BLD @ 75USD person/day. Menus were large, nice food.
Enjoy your stay and do not carry your golf bags with you, not necessary. Katie will place a golf bag in your golf cart while you have breakfast.

“Caye Chapel absolutely ROCKS!”

My husband and I wanted our honeymoon to stand out from the numerous other great trips we had each taken. Mission accomplished! At Caye Chapel, we felt like we actually owned a private island and golf course. The island is absolutely gorgeous. The food is outstanding - believe us, you will not get bored (we were there for 10 days). The golf course is very challenging, and yes, my ball did roll off into the water hazard once only to come to rest on the haunch of a baby crocodile! The honeymoon package was a great deal, and we got to upgrade to a sinfully luxurious villa because we were there at a slow time. The casitas looked lovely as well, less space of course but very nice.

The service, however, eclipses everything else and sets Caye Chapel apart from all other resorts we've experienced. The people who work at Caye Chapel will do whatever it takes to make your trip the best it can be. We absolutely felt as if they cared as much as we did about the quality of our stay.

Thank you, Katie, Cynthia and all, for the best trip of our lives!!!

“Absolutely Amazing”

My wife and I arrived in the afternoon of June 28th and were greeted by the resort staff at the airfield. They loaded up our luggage and we were off to the huge clubhouse to meet Katie and sign our "croc wavier". We were told that dinner was at 7:00 and Katie asked if we would like some chips and salsa sent to the room while we were settling in. The chips were wonderful and the salsa was fresh. After unpacking in our Casita (which is like an oversized hotel room). We had about an hour and a half of daylight so we were off to play a couple of holes and check out the island. Just unbelievable.

The first night we had fresh warm water lobster along with soup, salad, bread and dessert. This was normal during each dinner. Four courses and everything was wonderful. Alley and Mario were perfect.
Breakfast and lunch were both great and had a wide selection of choices. I loved the Belizen Special for breakfast (think oversized breakfast burrito) and the quesadilla from lunch.

The next couple of days consisted of my wife hanging out at the pool or beach (which was small and rocky, but very clean) and me playing golf. I got to see 3 crocs during our stay and a few iguanas as well.
The course was in great shape other than the sand in the bunkers. It was a little hard and packed down , but I think that was from some rain they had a couple of days before our visit. I only saw 3 or 4 other groups the entire time and I got to play 91 holes in 3 days! It was very windy and I went through a lot of golf balls. Water was everywhere.

The pool was very clean and many times my wife and I were the only ones there (there were only 10 or 15 other guests on the island during our entire stay). Ruben took care of our drinks at the pool bar and also at night in the clubhouse. He was a lot of fun to talk to. I learned alot about Belize from him and it was funny to me that he did not know that Elvis was dead (of course, I guess that depends on who you ask). I got to try Belikin beer and it was great. I'm trying to find it here in the States. My wife stuck with Tequlia Sunrises and Ruben made a great on.

I highly suggest the snorkeling trip to the reef. Duncan took us out and we were the only two there. The reef is not to far from the island and he made sure we didn't see any sharks (I don't get along too well with 'em). He stayed out there as long as we wanted to and we got to see some amazing fish.

It was considered the rainy season but we only got a couple of showers that lasted a few minutes. It is hot and I highly suggest getting the meal plan that includes non alcholic beverages and snacks. I drink a lot of water and it paid for itself.

I only have a couple of tips for future travelers. Be sure to go out after dark and watch the fish under the light at the end of the pier. We saw some huge ones and even a couple of stingrays. Be sure to thank the staff because it was eveident that they work very, very hard. Lastly, be sure to leave the tags on your luggage that Maya Airlines put on them when you fly over. I tore one off one of my bags and it didn't get off the plane when we got back to Belize International. I had to pay a taxi driver $25 USD to bring it from Belize City Municipal and it barely got there in time from our flight
back to the States.

We had a great time and will certainly be back. Next time we will bring friends and/or family with us.

“Golfer's paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2007

If you want the perfect golf vacation, 5 star service from staff, meals that are amazing, and ultimate peace and quiet Caye Capel is it. Katie, Mario, Amin, Teresa, even Alvin on the grounds...all give 100% and superior attention to detail. We will not go to any other islands in the carib ever again. Bring boxes of balls because the course is challenging....water everywhere and narrow fairways that are impeccably maintained. Plenty to do for non golfers...relax by the beach, fabuous pool and snorkeling and fishing excursions. Very very very quiet...you will need to go to one of the other islands if you are looking for shopping etc. This is luxury at its best. If Caye Chapel isn't what you want, Alex Gamero at DiscoveringBelize.com will create the perfect vacation for you...he's great!!!
