I stayed for two nights in this hotel in this Hotel as a family member got married in vitebsk.
I must say that I was greatly surprised by the quality of the hotel, which according to US/Canadian standards could be rated a 3.5 stars. The hotel is located in the middle of the historic quarter of Vitebsk, about one minute from the house of Marc Chagall and two minutes from the best restaurant in town, the Golden Line. As for the train station, it is about a 25-minute walk, so it is better to take a cab (it should cost you around 5USD).
All the rooms are very large, and some very very large. All double rooms include at least a living room in addition to a separated bedroom. Rooms which are the biggest are on the second flloor, those with the most style are on the fourth floor. The bathrooms also correspond very well to North American standards, though very few amenities (apart from a soap) are provided.
A good point about this hotel is that the staff at the reception speaks English, a language that is not very often spoken in that city. The hotel restaurant is also quite good, though the wine list is excessively pricey as no wine is priced at below than 40 USD, a fortune in that country.
All in all, I would strongly suggest visitors to Vitebsk to go to this hotel, especially in comparison to the other hotels that exist in the city. The Luchesa, for instance, is not bad but is located a bit outside of town, next to a large shopping mall, making it very difficult to visit the city if you don't have a car. The Vetraz suffers from the same problem, except that the building in which it is located appears to have not been renovated since the 1950's. So, for about 70 USD a night for a double room, there is no reason in my view to risk going elsewhere than the Eridan.
