“Beautiful New England B&B without the overly foo-foo Victorian decor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2011

My partner and I wanted to stay in an older authentic Victorian B&B for a cozy winter get-away, but we are not huge fans of the uptight feeling and over-the-top decor of some classic Victorian places. Glynn House was beautiful and comfortable -- lovely historic home with appropriate but comfy furnishings. And modern amenities -- gas fireplace, DVD player, carpeted room (gorgeous original wood floors in the rest of the house.) Enjoyed the lovely era-appropriate decor without having to worry that some hideous roses and vines wallpaper was going to come alive and strangle us in the middle of the night...

Friendly innkeepers and lively complementary wine happy hour with the other guests, a nice mix of people. Delicious huge breakfasts. Impeccably clean (and I am not even remotely a clean freak so that means a lot) throughout.

So, add one more positive review to the list for Glynn House!

“A place to just relax and enjoy life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2011

Go to the Glynn House when you want to put your mind in neutral, and NOT worry about anything at all. Glen, Pam and Ingrid are the best hosts one could ask for. The breakfast is outstanding, and any and all needs are cared for. Upon arrival Glen and Pam will make sure that any dinner or activity reservations will be made or checked. Any diet needs or restrictions will be noted, and Glen will be glad to make suggestions for activity or dining. They have pet friendly rooms available too.

“Lovely surprise in small town of Ashland.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

We stayed two nights in October in this lovely B and B. Ashland is very small but in an ideal location for sightseeing in the Lakes Region or the Mountain Region. We did both and our host was very knowledgable with maps, brochures, etc. There is ample parking and the owner is very particular about keeping the front door locked so don't forget to lock it when coming and going. The dining area is comfortable and couples can sit alone which is nice. The common room is small, but lovely. Cookies, sherry, pretzels and peanuts can be found in the common room but you have to ask for the free wine and appetizers at 5:30 if you want them. They don't put them out automatically. The breakfasts here are superb and ample. We had a scrambled egg dish with bacon one morning and puff pancakes another. Fresh fruit and choice of juice each morning. Also, a breakfast choice which is nice and somewhat unusual. Coffee was in the hallway at 7:00 am. Our room was nice, but the bathroom and shower vey small. Flat screen Tv and wireless internet were nice amenities and very easy to access, however, some TV channels we were looking for "were not purchased". I loved the robes and afghans. Also there is a bag of treats in your room for sale if you are looking for some munchies while watching one of the many available movies. Nice touch. There was a step up to our bathroom in our room and this could be a problem for some having to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Also, the bed is up high and stools need to be used for shorter people. Because it was cold the gas fireplace was much appreciated. This B&B is in a quiet neighborhood and within walking distance to The Common Man Restaurant where we ate both nights. Hosts/owners are onsight and that is a plus. Just don't bother the owner's daughter. She seems to be somewhat tired and irritable with this business. Maybe we caught her on a couple of bad days. All in all, great stay and great breakfast!

“Outstanding, don't stay anywhere else in the lakes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

The Glynn House is an outstanding Inn. A great historic home, tastefully modernised and furnished. We had a large king sized room, with whirlpool bath and fireplace that was a delight. A great breakfast, good company, backed up by caring owners who took pride in their home and in their knowledge of their area.

“Love this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

This was our second time we visited The Glynn House Inn. The first time back in June, we brought our 13 year old dog with us. The first night we were there, we ended up in the Vet ER with our dog. We had to leave early from the Inn and return home to care for our sick dog. We paid for both nights, but only stayed for one. They did send me a voucher in the amount of one night, but only after I asked for it in an email a couple weeks later.
When we arrived for our second time there, the Inn Keepers were so very welcoming, and seemed happy to see us. They were very empathetic about our dog, whom we had to put to sleep a few weeks earlier. We were finally able to enjoy the Inn completley and make better memories there.
The room was awesome! It was, pretty, comfortable, etc. The bed was decent and the double spa jetted tub was heaven sent to us. Breakfast was at 8:30am, which was very tasty and kept us full well into the afternoon. They serve fresh fruit, homemade warm muffins, coffee, tea, juice and a choice of savory or sweet meal. We very much enjoyed the food.
The Innkeepers were very friendly and helpful. While we were checking out, we had a really fun chat with Ingrid and Pam.
We look forward to going back, with our new dog someday.
