“Don't waste your money!!”

My husband and I booked a weekend at the Glynn House for the weekend of October 28th. At 299/night, we looked forward to visiting a section of New Hampshire we were unfamiliar with and spending a relaxing weekend in a luxurious inn. We chose the Glynn House because it's pet friendly and part of the "Distinguished Inns of North America Registry." The suite we stayed at was virtually without heat. We got up in the night and put sweaters on to keep warm. The thermostats were broken, apparently (or turned off?), and the 10'stretch of electric baseboard wasn't enough to heat the 3 rooms. The propane fireplace (complete with trash in it!) provided no ambient heat. I guess it's just supposed to be pretty. No heat in the bathroom, and the water temperature that night and the next morning can best be described as tepid. When I went over to the main inn at 7:30 a.m. Saturday to tell them we were checking out, having spent a miserable night, the innkeeper(Ingrid) was rude. She never apologized or offered to do anything to correct the situation. Her only response was, "I told you the thermostat was broken." If she'd told me before we left home, we would have gone elsewhere. A mini blind was missing, which she told us she'd replace while we were out that evening. She didn't - we had to hang a blanket in the window to get some privacy. This is a terrible place, with no attention to details. For 299/night, it's a sore disappointment. Go elsewhere!!

“Fantastice B&B Offers Romance and a Pet Friendly Atmosphere”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Glynn House. The bed and breakfast was immaculate and very nicely appointed. The Inn Keepers were very cordial and relaxed. The breakfast and snacks offered were delicious.

We were fortunate to stay in the Roosevelt Deluxe Suite with our Bergamasco sheep dog. The four dog-friendly accommodations are located in a large home just behind the main Inn.The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was lovely, and the living room was cozy. We indulged in their chocolate covered strawberries and champagne- It was just perfect after the drive! If you are traveling with a pet, please note they are not allowed in the main Inn and will need to stay in your suite during breakfast.

The Glynn House is very centrally located and offered us the opportunity for hiking around the local area including the Merrimack River Floodplain Forest which was just beautiful. We also, at the suggestion of the Inn Keeper, book a trip and canoed down the Pemi River. Of important note- if you are seeking a "dog-friendly" vacation, the local restaurants, even though they may claim to be pet friendly on the internet, do not allow pets to come in. Very unfortunate. All in all, we did have a wonderful time and look forward to making this a yearly experience.

Room Tip: If traveling with a pet, ask for one of the first floor accommodations that way you will have your o...

“Everything a B&B Should be!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

My wife and I stayed at the Glynn house with our 4 month old puppy, Brewster, for our anniversary getaway and we would go back in a heartbeat. The inn is conveniently located right off route 3, minutes from route 93. It’s a short drive to Squam Lake and a bit further away from Winnipesaukee. Glenn, the owner, gave us a map and recommended some fun day trips to do with our puppy.

The room was excellent. Clean and spacious. They even set up a small day bed for Brewster which he loved! The room had a jacuzzi tub and separate shower, and also had a flat screen TV with Direct TV. It was great to have that country B&B feel, but to also watch a little TV before going to bed each night!

The food is amazing. They offer one sweet and one savory breakfast option, so my wife and I got one of each and split them. I got an omelet with fresh tomatoes and goat cheese while my wife got the ricotta stuffed French toast. I couldn't get over how delicious each one was. I was so sad that we had to leave a little early on our last day because we missed Ingrid's (the chef) specialty, eggs benedict! They also serve wine and hors d'oeuvres everyday between 530 and 630, which serves as a great way to meet other guests and the inn keepers.

Above all, the service is what sets this place apart. The inn keepers are a husband, wife, daughter, and Miles (their dog). This family is very well travelled and is great conversationalists. My wife and I loved going to their "happy hour" just to spend more time with the family. Not to mention they loved our dog (and vice versa of course). Brewster was showered with treats and affection and he loved every minute of it.

All and all this place is great. Whether you're looking for a summer retreat to the lakes or a winter ski vacation, put this place on top of your accommodation lists. We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Pet Friendly!

“First rate property and helpfulness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in the Jefferson Suite on the third (top) floor. It was a wonderful experience. A very large room and what seemed to be a brand new (and very expensive) mattress on the bed.

Every morning there was a choice of two breakfast items and they never duplicated. Glenn, the owner, went out of his way to make recommendations based on our interests and has a supply of discounted tickets to most attractions.

We peeped in the other rooms and all of them looked inviting. Ashland itself is a charming place, and gives a wonderful flavor of true New England. (Final note: we stayed there two days before the hurricane it. I called them to make sure they were OK and they reported that the inn was unaffected by the storm.)
