“Great Campground”

We stayed at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in NH August 12-17th. I have to say after reading the posts on this site everybody is entitled to their own opinion; that’s what is great about living in this country. My family experience there was amazing. I feel the staff do a great job. Although the campground is VERY busy and children are everywhere that is what a Yogi/family park is all about in my opinion. I have camped there for several years and although the campground needs some fresh paint and repairing on a lot of items I feel the park is slowly starting to turn around. Things that have gone on year after year I see slowly stopping and getting better. I wish they would do something with the mini golf that is in horrible shape, but after talking at great length with the manager about our concerns he assured us that he is working very hard with his bosses in really fixing up things and adding new features. We all live in tough times and as a business owner I know what it is like. I liked that the manager talked to us in an upfront manor and didn’t seem to sugar coat anything. He actually used the phrase “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. and that he and his staff really want to give the best possible camping experience to his guests. With the positive customer service staff that Jellystone has it helps us overlook the “poorer” areas of the campground. With that said I won’t lie I ran into two employees that seemed to have a bad day, and it was like I was bothering them to ask questions. I can’t however blame the campground for that. I had a problem with one of the Snack Bar staff members and went to speak to the manager. He was off that day, but the next morning he came to our cabin to discuss our issue. After voicing my complaint about one of the staff members at the snack bar the manager apologized and assured me he would take care of the issue. What I liked about that was when he walked away from our cabin he went down to the snack bar. I had my son follow behind him and see if he was actually going to the snack bar. Well, he did and it made us feel even better he took of the issue right away VS waiting. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE! No place is perfect and you can fault in everything but in my honest opinion I think they are doing a good job, and we look forward to hopefully seeing some of the changes come into the park that was talked about with us.

The Activity Staff there is amazing. Although some activities ran over making others late, but they do a great job keeping our children busy and this is what we love about that campground. Keep up the good work! Can’t wait to see you next year!

“A little like "camping" in a Wal-Mart parking lot - but the kids loved it.”

The Good:
• Kids loved it (toddler and preschooler aged). I would argue if you had them at home with their friends for 3 days straight, went to parks and shared meals you would get the same experience. It was more about having fun than where we were.
• Cabins were super clean. We had a Rustic cabin and one of our friends had a Deluxe. If only to avoid the public showers and bathrooms I would suggest renting a Deluxe. We were #235 I think. Our friends were in the 250's, I think.
• We had a fridge!
• We made great use of the grill and fire pit.
• The splash pool for the kids was a hit
• The Polar Caves in nearby Rumney, NH were AWESOME.

The Mediocre:
• All of the facilities. This place is Old. I get the feeling people have been coming here for a while and it's nostalgic for them.
• The staff driving by in gas powered (stinky) golf carts. While it was good they were keeping an eye on things/leading people to their cabins, it was like living on a busy street. Also, guests could rent golf carts, so that increased the traffic. We had to yell "car!" at the kids all weekend.
• We were in cabins that had street noise. Not ideal, but I think the layout of the whole place kind of sucks for feeling like you are "getting away".
• We didn't take advantage of many of the activities, we just ended up spending time together. My husband did rent a canoe with another dad we were with. I think they had a good time.
• Pool water very cloudy.

The Bad:
• We had a cabin right where one of the tent camping areas begins. That's where all the dogs are. Dogs left by themselves to bark all day.
• The tent camping areas tended to get loud late into the night. Tuck yourself well into the cabin areas to avoid that.
• Showers were questionable, even though I saw the attendants go to clean the restrooms/showers. Other people's hair everywhere, etc.
• The place was packed. In some places I wondered why people paid to park their RV in what was essentially a median between two streets in the park. I really didn't understand this whole place and why you would pay to come here.
• the website is not at all complete and the resort map doesn't give cabin/space numbers so you have no idea where you are booking. We were near the roundabout next to Route 132 http://www.abcamping.com/jellystonenh/NH_map/www/index.html (yellow blue and green dots are tent camping sites)

Room Tip: Ensconce yourself in the cabined areas, being near the tent camping sucked for us.

“Loved it for what it is.....”

we just returned from a weekend @ Jellystone park and we loved it! We went with our two teenagers and two other teens that were friends of our kids. We loved it for what it was.....a " resort" style campground. we went into this weekend expecting that were going to be a LOT of kids, and there were.....EVERYWHERE! All the activities were great. Our teens loved them. My husband and I felt comfortable letting them all go off to activities on there own. Our group of kids ranged in age from 12-14.
This isn't a wilderness, peace and quiet kinda place. All the groups camping in our area of the campground were super nice and respectful of the " hibernation hours ". We will definately be back. All the staff we came in contact with during our weekend were more than helpful and worked super hard to please all the guests.

We had a great time at Jellystone park. All of the activities were very well run and scheduled, the staff was extremely courtous and helpful. My kids had a lot of fun!!!! We will be back! The sites we stayed at were nice and shaded, away from everything and it worked out perfectly. loved that they have golf cart rentals. Bathrooms were very clean in our area, and our cabin was nice and clean when we arrived!!! WE WILL BE BACK!!!!

“Ghetto-stone!”

WOW!...We camp a lot with families and a group of kids (3-8). We expected that Jellystone would be kid friendly and a fun family atmosphere. We were wrong! The KISS108 music blaring until 10PM at the pavilion was a little much. We were in the back corner and literally had to talk louder at the campfire to hear each other. No kidding...over 3 days, the police and 2 rounds of ambulances showed up at different sites. The staff had no interest in quelling the sites that were overly loud unless you asked them. Don't get me wrong, we are mid 30's with kids and want the kids to experience a fun camping environment...Jellystone is totally mismanaged and the only reason they are still in business is because they hide behind the 'Yogi Bear' facade. Don't go here unless you want an urban feel to your weekend.
The only reason I gave 2 stars rather than one is because we totally lucked out with our sites...we had a section that allowed the 3 families to hang out together..we literally came to the conclusion that our sites we by far the best....we were amazed how bad the majority of the sites were. For families looking to enjoy the camping experience ....do not be tricked by the Jellystone name until they change management and their approach to family camping. Did I mention that our site had papers and trash on the site when we arrived...we had to pick it up before we set up our stuff.....awesome!
