Traveled through Nevada in June 2011 and knew we would need a place to stay near Area 51/Nellis AFB. Just about anything we could find looked like a potential nightmare. Then we went online and found the Windmill Ridge - a wonderful grouping of individual cabins. But these were not old "rustic" cabins; they were clean, comfortable, modern, and quite private. With jetted tubs and uniquely furnished in various "western" themes.
Although there were about 14 units when we stayed, numerous others were being built. Most cabins were single units but there were several double units - perfect for our needs as there are 5 in our family. We stayed in double unit 11/12 - nice sized rooms,
There is a very nice restaurant on the property and wonderful bakery. The food was excellent and pastries quite enjoyable. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
Best of all, this property is like nothing we've ever stayed at before. Very unique - not your average, conventional lodging - we'll enjoy remembering our stay at Windmill Ridge for many years to come. Who would ever have thought such a charming place could be found in the middle of the desert? Truly an excellent choice!
