If you need to stay in Alliance, you don't want to stay anywhere else. If your plans are flexible, you might prefer to choose another town. I've stayed here for 40 nights over the last 4 months, and I never had any problems with this hotel. This hotel has everything it should so you won't really be disappointed if you don't expect more. There are some things that you might not like. The breakfast area is very small. They have a swimming pool, but it is located right by the front entrance and breakfast area. The manager's reception is usually something basic like hot dogs. The internet speed was fine most of the time. There were times that it slowed down tremendously when I tried to connect to work through our VPN. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay. As for the traveler complaining about early check-in, I've arrived at noon and they did let me check in a few times but not always. It really depends on how many nights you are staying and whether the room you are assigned to is ready. Alliance does not have a lot of restaurants, but you can find something if you are just passing through. Ken and Dale's is good, and you can also shop at Safeway. The country club is no longer open for open dining. As far as staying in other towns, the closest I've been is Torrington, WY. The HI Express there is quite a bit better. The breakfast area is 3-4 times larger. They have a workout room. The lobby is very large. They give a snack to Priority Club members when they check in. (I don't know why they don't do this in Alliance. I thought it was part of the program.) The towels are much softer. All of that seems like little things, but it makes a big difference. If you are just passing through, maybe you'd prefer a different route.
