We arrived before official check in time but the front desk girl was able to check us in and was very helpful with local info recommending Ken & Dale's to eat as we fancied steak - good choice.
It is set on the main highway so easy to find and walking distance to K Mart & Arby's was right next door.
The room was large with a microwave & fridge. The lighting was good but there was a bulb out over the washbasin which had a row of 'dressing room' style bulbs. The basin was outside the bathroom.
Everything was typical HI Express including the yummy cinnamon rolls for breakfast.
At 17.30 there was a 'Manager's Special' advertised. It was actually about half an hour later as the poor girl from reception was also responsible for setting that up so while she was doing that the queue was building up at the desk as that's prime check in time. There could have been a holiday or sickness problem but she really shouldn't be expected to do everything at that time as someone is going to have to wait. They offered german sausage, white rolls, peppers & sauerkraut & crisps with iced tea and soft drink. The coffee was cold.
We spent the afternoon exploring Alliance & were pleasantly surprised as I thought it was the 'back of beyond' and we were really in town to visit Carhenge but the town was cute and there is a great museum.
Nebraska has lots of trains running through and while there was train noise we didn't notice it enough to affect sleep.
